pictures #6 track event and counting/Thill now in B group

This was last Friday 17th..with Team Racing..was an awesome track day. other NSX was Steve, White TT NSX, Alex Red NSX and Jeff brought his black Integra instead of his NSX.

This is my second time in the B group. I can tell you this; this was the best I have ever felt with my NSX. Installed my Brembo GT brakes and gave me the control I badly needed over my OEM brakes.

My last session was an AWESOME one for me...and also for our fellow NSX owners.....we had a Red Viper also in B group. as you know can be very fast on the tracks.

Well, this time, I was waiting for B group to go, (had about 20+ cars in this group) I was second in line...and don't really know where the Viper was in line, maybe a few cars behind.

I felt I had a good start and felt great and balanced.....so I pushed it and focused on my line and good braking...the more I hit my line, the more my NSX felt it was ready for more speed. So the faster I allowed myself....

Eventually It dawned to me, no one has passed me yet....then in the rear view I seen the Red Viper..I would figure about 10 cars behind, maybe...so I figured I would have to point him by....but I still kept my line, balance of speed and braking......every turn felt soooooo goooood.

before I knew it, the Viper still not behind my butt, more so it even looked like he got further behind.........I knew he would be coming, perhaps (I felt) my enter and exits on turns, I felt was faster………but I think more important…….I was consistent every turn ever time around.

Now as for the "Viper" it could of been any car, civic, vette..it just so happened it was a Vper...and I hear and read they are not great on turns and having to much HP is an added task management along with focusing the tracks..

anyways.......the Viper driver came in, as I did, and the guys next to his paddock heard him say………….oh Man, I couldn’t catch up to the Red NSX………..

then he asked me what I have in my NSX?.............I said….normal mods, but mainly NA !!!!.............he told me I must have been in the zone……….he has been tracking for a few years….also tracked Porsches before the Viper.

So here are some pictures.

just got a PM from my first instructor Peter Mills,

I thanked him for getting me started at NSXPO 05...a good way to start GOOD Habits is with an NSX owner instructor.

then Mark J on a Dali track event..

after that, Don T in NorCal at Infineon with Track Master

then Steve G...took me under his wings...drove me in his White TT NSX tuned by Shad -Driving Ambitiion

so thanks to all, for I am now hooked and can't stop thinking about it.

see ya at the next track event

Laptimes will be one of the few indicators that will help you determine wether or not you are improving as a driver (the other one is data acquisition).

No point measuring your laptimes until you hit about 20 events or so.

For now focus on your driving, once you become adept you should be able to drive the NSX on any line wether a good line or a bad line and should be able to compensate for anything that happens.

Take the opportunity and track your NSX at Thill in the rainy season and learn to be smoother and slide the car around for practice.

Don't let things go to your head though, not to discourage you but a SpecMiata race car with a good driver can be faster than you with the NSX, it's not all about power (Viper) ;)

hey Ken

thats my plan always...to hone my skills in driving well and experience all sorts of variables with many degree in difficult/med/easy situations and execute.

don't worry, I am the last to get a big head, was just very excited and wanted to share, cuz most times, I am ok with everyone passin me, it was this time around...I didin't get passed much....so its like- for once I beat a buddy of mine that normal beat me..you know, that type of hype.

has for big HP...if I wanted that...I would of swapped with my CTSC NSX...but NA is what I want to track. I started with stock NSX and still only added normal mods with street tires..just added the brembos last week. Like I heard many times....my NSX has way more capabilities then me right now..

Balance, good judgment, execute and compensate is what I am after

Nice job. I hope to go down the same path as you as far as progressing with each event.
Thanks for sharing your pics too

its such a blast...but you get more out of it then just fun:

tracking my NSX gave me the whole enchilada of why Honda made the NSX in the first place.

And being able to do it is a privilege because every year I hear the cost of a track event is getting more expensive and makes it tougher to keep clubs open.

I am not a race car driver….however, the time on the tracks made me be a better driver on the streets…..I know it allowed me to be aware of my surroundings and speed up my thought process and be focused on the wheel….and also made me focus what’s much further ahead of me and not just around me.

Tracking has showed me what NOT to do when driving fast. You wouldn’t believe that most accidents are caused by doing the wrong thing that disturbed the balance of their car.
