So I go to work this Friday morning only to find out that the 5 freeway was jammed bumper to bumper (heavier than usual). So I think, hmmm...accident. Well it should clear up soon. 30 minutes later, still crawling, 1 hour later still crawling. WTF?!

I turn the radio to the news and find out a few truckers had a lame-brain idea to block the entire 5 freeway northbound lanes around the Commerce area to protest high gasoline prices! Oooooh I was going to lose it!

I can understand their purpose, but to inconvenience EVERYONE just to get your point across? That is just unacceptable. From what I understand is that the trucks were positioned strategically to block all the lanes. They had cars driving behind them and when the truckers got out, they jumped in the cars and took off. Choppers were everywhere. I heard 3 of the truckers were arrested.

Anyway, I just got into work right now and putting it behind me.
This is not a TGIF kinda day.

Although my commute to work wasn't affected by the truckers actions I agree what they did was pretty lame. Truckers that are pissed about diesel prices need to focus their anger on the right people. Targeting civilians by interfering with their daily commute is not going to solve their problem but rather give them a bad rep and less sympathy.

On a side note, truckers should include in their contracts a fuel surcharge charge that protects them from increases in fuel prices. Most shipping companies already implement this and I'm confused as why these truckers don't.

I understand from the news this slow down is occuring all around SoCal today  Seems like a poor way to gain public support.

Now they've given me a reason not to like them.....That really, really is selfish of them. What if someone had to go to the hospital??!! What if a lady was about to give birth??! What if someone had a flight to catch because they have a family member that's dying at the other end of the world??!!!

I bet they were actually working for the oil companies. I mean think about it, they just alienated the public & law enforcement against their "cause", and created demand for the oil suppliers by forcing people to waste fuel sitting idle on the freeway. The oil companies couldn't have devised a more effective strategy to divide public opinion if they wanted to.
