Greetings everyone,
It's time for our 3rd Annual CalCoastal-NSXPrime Canyon Drive!!! Sunday, June 8th. is the date. If you missed the last 2 years drive, join us in the fun time and you can place faces to all the screen names on the boards. The day will begin somewhere in Ventura County(location TBA) in the morning. A late lunch will follow with a raffle. The vagueness of the times/locations/routes will not be public info, as not to attract law inforcement and or party crashers. Routes will be given out upon arrival to the drive. I am open to anyone who would like to help with stuff that makes this a well organized event. Online sign ups and more info are soon to follow!
Take care,
John Richards

John,
I'm 99.9% there. Heck, I'm even close to convincing Zena to make it out this year, since she missed out on last year's.

I'm so there! For those who haven't been to this event previously, the preparation and organization of this event is by far the best that I have ever been.

Last year,

- Marc and Craig led the group with excellent direction and information.
- They had someone running a few miles ahead to make sure that "the roads" was clear.
- A great personalized long sleeve T-shirt for to keep.
- Lunch was great
- Raffle prices were abundant. I missed picking the Mercury "Mystique" street sign. That was my dream car.

- Drag racing their model NSXes for pink slips.

Great fun!

You KNOW I'm in!

Some of last years topic is here http://www.nsxprime.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/004327.html and year before that is here http://www.nsxprime.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/001705.html. Just getting started with the routes and lunch plans. This should be some good weather and some roads less traveled. We're trying to find some new routes and suggestions are always welcome.
Can't forget the legal crap, so here goes.

Nice legal stuff John! I'll be there and will organize all of the different video and edit afterwards. The finish DVD of the autocross is coming along nicely.

NSX-Ster, does this mean you are making a DVD of the event? If so, that would be AWESOME.

Yeah-I'm finishing up a DVD of the 2/22 autocross right now and hope to do the same for the canyon run. We're going to need lots of cameras with cam mounts

NSX-Ster, I'll be bringing my camera mount, MicroMV camcorder on the mount, and my miniDV VX2000 for handheld shots. I'll send you copies of all the footage since I never seem to have time to edit what I shoot.

BTW, can you handle MicroMV format video? If not, I can always convert it and send you the footage on miniDV.

Anyone have recommendations on DC to AC inverters? I could use one for running my MicroMV camcorder (Sony still doesn't have a car adapter for the IP55...and the battery life would be too short for one of our driving events).

Can't handle the MicroMV let's dub to DV and I'll cut it from there.

Awesome! I'll have to buy a camera mount. IO Port right Akira3D? I'll be borrowing a videocam for now as my Sony camcorder (8mm) is obsolete. I don't know what format this camcorder will be though. This will be awesome! I can't wait!

I have The Hama Universal Video Camera Mount which uses a suction cup for easy mounting (available from IO Port Racing).

That's what I figured.

After the drive, I'll transfer the footage to my computer, convert it to DV-codec, and transfer it back to miniDV tape. Unfortunately, we can't do a digital dub directly from a microMV camcorder to a miniDV one (and I'd rather not do an analog dub).

Mark,

As far as I know, we can't go digitally between microMV and regDV (DVCAM?)...but I should add I'm not entirely familiar with the DVCAM format (unless I'm mistaken, it's very similar to miniDV).

Sony's microMV camcorders spits out an entirely different data stream through its IEEE1394 port (12Mbps MPEG2 rather than DV-codec). I'd tell you more, but I can't seem to find any detailed specs on the microMV format.

If I recall correctly, on the PC side of things only two software apps can even capture the microMV data: Sony's MovieShaker and Pinnacle's Studio 8 DV Plus. And, when I last checked, microMV was not at all supported on the Mac.

BTW, how far is your facility from the Third Street Promenade?
