Just watched an auction at Barrett Jackson that had a car sell for an all time record on that show. $3,000,000.00 !!!
Some guy with a Ferrari hat and jacket named Alan from somewhere in Colorado bought it for a collection.
During the bidding when it was around $1.8m he told the other bidder that he would buy that car at whatever the cost. He did it too.
He was crying after he won it. I wonder why.

1954 Oldsmobile F-88
GM concept car

I know Alan, his family started the yellow pages, he comes from very old money. He has about 110 cars mostly Lambo's, he brought his Saleen and bragged it was faster than his enzo. The guy is a complete tool.
He also paid 169,000 for a green stingray corvette.

Every custom street rod(by reputable biulders) are going for 150k and up.American muscle esp corvettes are 100k and way up!These cars are hot now and it has to do with the age of the dreamers bidding. The late 80's and early 90's were all about the European exotics, now it is US classic rods.Oh and that young guy doing the 3 mill bid was certainly not going to let anyone outbid him, quite arrogant was he.

I liked the car, but nowhere near enough to have paid 500K for it.

My wife was watching with me when the Alan guy bought the F88. We couldn't believe how they guy was touting the other bidder in a "bring it on" manor. That guy should have made Alan whatshisname pay 5 million - because he would have. Yea, a tool alright. Lucky he hasn't had a few tools worked upside his head with the anticks he displayed toward the other bidder.

Does he need a new son? I can learn to be a tool for the right amount of moolah.

prova, does he have a F40?
I think the $3 mil car was all of $3.24 after fees. Man, it must be a lot of yellow pages out there.

Yeah, I didn't care for the way he was acting toward the other bidder. I think that is why the other guy pretty much quit. He realized how much of a jerk that Alan was being and didn't anything physical to break out.

Do you guys think the F88 will actually provide a good draw to his museum?

If you guys are talking about the yellow pages heir, obviously, you don't know "Alan". Just because he was wearing a jacket with an Alan embroidered on it, makes him an Alan. If you really know him you would know his real name. I have had dinners and spent enough time with the guy you are calling a tool to know that he is the nicest down to earth car guy you'll meet. If he claims that his Saleen is faster than his Enzo, I have no reason to doubt him as he drives them both regularly.

From what I understand the guy that bid on that car was bidding for Rich B...
But I could be wrong. I have had dinner with Rich a couple of times,
my words may have been a little harsh, for that I apologize.
He was bragging that his S7 LM edition was faster than his Enzo, he was showing us how fast it was when it started spiting oil all over our car that was following him.
His engine let go and it had to be towed too Cali for repairs.

Thank you for clearing that up.

I did not see the BJA, but from what I've heard, it was a Alan Waite of gateway that won the bid. I would not be surprise if Richard and Alan got into to a bidding war that pushed the price for that Oldsmobile up into the stratosphere.

I remember when he had his Saleen shipped to Irvine for repairs.

I don't remember the guys name but Alan's last name wasn't Waite.

There was an article in DuPont's "Celebrity Cars" magazine about this guy (magazine is about a year old...I recently threw it out) and all his cars. I believe the article said his great grandfather invented the yellow pages. They showed pictures of his Enzo, Calloway Corvette and Diablo. He also has 2 Gallardos....one for himself and one for his wife.
