Authorities arrested 33 people this weekend in a major crackdown on drag racing in Orange County.
The bust happened on Gills Drive in an industrial center near South Orange Blossom Trail early Sunday morning.
Deputies estimate that 50 to 55 cars were gathered in the area for the races.
Police and WKMG News cameras caught the racers screeching down an empty street at dangerous speeds.
When deputies moved in to make the arrests, a majority of the drivers scrambled to escape but authorities blocked all of the roads.
The sheriff's department says that they decided to crack down on the racers after another race last weekend put three people in the hospital.
"It's just not something you need to be doing," Orange County Sheriff's deputy Jim Solomons said. "So, obviously that provided us with a little more impetus to find these folks and send them a strong message. And, we'll send them the message every weekend if that's what we need to do. We really need to put a stop to this."
All 33 people arrested in the bust are being charged with felony fleeing and eluding.
Their cars were towed and impounded.
