IF the 2nd Generation NSX was branded differently say as the Acura KSX or FSX, what would be the level of interest in the car? Basically, how much of the anticipation/allure/selling point is that is the next iteration of the legendary NSX?

The 2nd Gen is a completely different car IMO, with little shared DNA, so I'm wondering is it going to piggyback off the (at least critically acclaimed, maybe not financial) success of the 1st Generation NSX?

I was initially nonplussed by the 2nd Gen but I'm gradually talking myself into it--it seems like a great overall package and the design is growing on me slowly. Admittedly, there was no "gotta have it" feeling that was generated by the original. Similarly, this is how I felt about the E46 M3 (original, classic, gotta have it) vs its successors so maybe I'm just old school. Although I do like newer exotics such as the Aventador, Huracan, and 458--which inspire such emotion.

Not to derail your thread, just wanted to say E46 M3 best M3 and hello to a fellow double-dipper :)

I will buy the NSX 2.0 based solely and exclusively on the individual merits of the 2.0, without regard for the 1.0.

- i just want to slap honda. I love the car, it is more their lack of sense that annoys me.

Agreed.

I cannot fathom how an engineering powerhouse with deep roots in racing could have just gone away for so long!!
Having made the beloved NSX and the s2000, they just decided to leave and let their die hard followers just go away?!?!?!

What type of corporate thinking, agenda, fear and change of DNA would it have taken to do this is confounding to say the least.

Now after what appears to be a never ending wait, they are trying to recapture the glory days of their sporting past with a beyond-the-reach-of their true followers and catering to those who purchase European sports cars. How many of those will they be able to attract away from P and F and AMGs and Ms is difficult to say but it will not be easy. There are too many excellent products out there that have been improving over the decades.

They must make and offer sub $100k as well as about $50k products if they wish to get back to their true roots or this new push to regain their past will not succeed.

HONDA always has had the engineering know how, but they must not do this halfheartedly and not stop at a Halo car a la Lexus LFA.

At this point we don't have any idea what's in the pipeline for new Acura/Honda vehicles beyond the NSX.
However if Honda has decided to reposition the Acura brand as a higher performance marque what better way than to redo the NSX and re-enter F1.
I'm hoping there is a long range plan at work within Honda and the NSX is the first in a series of new models.

If there is more coming, like a front engine rear drive sedan/coupe and so on, then Acura will be in a different market slot in 5 years.
We'll just have to be patient and hold off criticism until we see if there is more to come.

Likewise sir.

Are there other people on here running an E46 M3? Steel grey manual here with cinnamon leather.

LSB/Black manual.

The NSX 1.0 and E46M are keepers for me - raw, fun-to-drive manual cars. That's why I'm finally willing to take the plunge into the pseudo-manual/automatic cars that have replaced them.

06 Interlagos over black SMG. Was supposed to be a "for now" track car but is quickly growing into a keeper.
