I think in order to compete in GT you have to have a car in production. Not a fan of what the JGTC allowed Honda to use the HSV if they had no intentions of producing it.

Probably made an exception similar to what BMW did a few years back when they put a V8 in their M3 racer, and dominated that year. Problem is there was no V8 M3 at the time on the road, the competition complained. So they changed the rules the next year and BMW was out of luck, until they got the V8 M3's into production the year after. As long as no one complains or changes the rules Honda possibly got a pass due to their fan base.
