All,
I take the newly completed 210 Freeway to work from Sierra Madre to San Bernardino. Since the last (eastern) stretch of the 210 (from the 15 to the 215) was opened up in August, the CHP has been heavily patrolling this stretch because of the fast speeds drivers are going (70-85 MPH) average. The biggest concern is on the eastbound lanes just east of the University/State Street off ramp, where the CHP have been positioning their patrol cars or motorcycle behind sound walls and concrete divider barriers along the curved stretch past the above off ramp and employing their radar gun. At 80 mph plus you come upon this area rather quickly and the CHP are hard to spot because of the barriers and sound walls. Fortunately since I drive this route everyday, I now slow down when I reach this area, and my radar detector also picks up their signal, giving me additional warning.
Be aware of this area, and you'll avoid a speeding ticket, and believe me the CHP have been having a field day because again, this stretch of the freeway is wide open!
Regards,
Mario
