if i go to publix and buy Grocery and put them in the trunk will the motor next to it cause certain foods to melt?

It can get very warm back there. Any sort of frozen foods I would imagine would become thawed slightly or melt completely depending on how long the trip is. For the new cars you also do get a bit of a smell on items that sit back there. Some owners have left their rear hatch open after driving and parking the car in their garage each trip after awhile the resin smell definitely will fade if you do this.

One way I'm sure you could help is driving in quiet or sport mode and limiting how long that engine is actually running and try to rely on the electric motors a bit more if it is just driving around town to grab a few groceries. When the engine is running constantly in the sport+ and track modes is when you will notice that cabin getting significantly hotter.

I had a few trips to southern Minnesota this past fall and I kept my jacket back there so that at each stop it was nice and warm when I put it on to walk around in the chilly fall weather!

We often use the NSX as our grocery getter and, yes, the trunk can often get warm enough to slow cook certain things when the gas motor is on. Since we're in CA, we are required to bring our own grocery bags anyway so we often try to store any temperature sensitive items in insulated bags to keep things cool. We have a fold-up insulated container we had used in the GT-R due to the heat from that car's exhaust but it's a challenge to fit in the trunk of the NSX. If you can find one that fits, that might be another idea.

This was an issue with the first gen NSX also, albeit not as noticeable in short trips. I put my computer bag with iPad and other goodies in the trunk of my 91 NSX and drove 600 miles on a leisurely road trip. My PC and iPad was nice and toasty by the time I got to my destination (I'm sure I shortened the battery life of my electronics - I had to cool them down for a while before turning them on). As a result I don't put any electronics or food in the trunk of my 91 NSX or my new NSX.
