I have on order a 2017 NSX with the following options:

Source Silver/Red +700
Semi-Aniline Leather Alcantara +1500
Exclusive Interwoven Wheels Painted +1500
Carbon Ceramic Rotors w/Red Calipers +10,600
Carbon/Sport Exterior Package +9000
Carbon Decklid spoiler +3000
Carbon Engine Cover +3600
Headliner Black +1300
Carbon Interior Package +2900
ELS Audio and Tech Pack w/XM $3300
Carbon Roof +6000

MSRP is $201,200 and I'll discount it $5000. Should be delivered to my store end of Jan/First week in Feb. I have other open order slots after this one too and would rather not have all these NSX's here collecting dust.

This one should be delivered to my store end of Jan/First week in Feb. I have other open order slots after this one too and would rather not have all these NSX's here collecting dust. PM ME for details

Delightful news.

I own the same car as you are selling and I paid MSRP for it a month ago.
This is the reward a buyer gets for ordering in advance.
You get to watch dealerships reduce the price below what an early buyer paid and in doing so reduce the value of all NSX's.
Really professional, mature, marketing on display here.
I think it's time to write Honda and ask them to refund the appropriate amount to those who bought early in good faith.
Honda at NSXPO assured us dealers wouldn't be doing this sort of thing.

You're speaking in the first person so am I correct in assuming you are the dealership owner?

you have a great point JD...but that is what the supply demand market has created...in this case no one made you be an early adopter..and many would congratulate Mike for making a market adjustment in the other direction...you should redirect your ire to your acura regional reps....look at it the other way....if the car was selling like hotcakes and dealers could get 50k over msrp would you be pissed that the rest of us could not get the deal you did...

Both of you make good points, this is just basic Economics 101 and there is no hard and fast rule for this type of thing. There has never been a guarantee in any business so it can go both ways as Doc and JD pointed out.

OP: Do you know when we can potentially order a 2018 model year? We would like to get a 2018 Casino White sometime in the near future so as the time gets closer let's talk.

thanks!

I can understand your frustration, Jim but Mike, aka "The Kid", is a standup guy and a supporter of our little NSX community. He does not own the dealership (although I am sure he wishes he does) but he has always worked with our community to give our members great deals on whatever cars he might have in his inventory. He is the sales manager at Bridgewater Acura in New Jersey.

He immediately offered his first allocation at MSRP when others were asking as much as $50k over and consistently offered subsequent allocations at MSRP. He is now taking over the allocations from other dealers who might otherwise seek to increase their profits and will be selling them at under MSRP.

Perhaps if other dealers were willing to also do MSRP we wouldn't be seeing the glut and now "discounts" that we are witnessing.

Bob

I've really no issue with Mike, he's just the messenger.
And I understand the comments about supply and demand and so on.

I had many discussions with Ted in 2013 at NSXPO and later about the new NSX launch.
I had bought a new NSX in 91 and then watched it being discounted by dealers after Honda USA over-ordered NSX's from Japan.
We discussed the 1991 launch and he assured me (and many others) that this launch would be different from the 91 launch.
All new NSX's were going to be made to order and there was going to be no unsold inventory at dealerships.
Ted was asked about how many NSX's Honda would make and his reply was "demand less one"

On the strength of that I ordered a new NSX.
And now we have a repeat of of the 1991 launch.

So I'm disappointed in how Honda has handled this launch.
For those of us who genuinely wanted the new car, and placed our orders well in advance, we haven't been looked after very well by Honda.
All of us would have been better off waiting until the unsold inventory got high (like now) then negotiated a good deal for ourselves at Honda's expense.
However in 2013 when deposits were placed it appeared this wouldn't happen.

I agree, and if you can get enough first string owners to mount a concerted campaign , who knows, maybe they throw a bone.....like new 8k watches for you guys:rolleyes:

BTW, Mike is no longer the "sales manager", he's the GM of the dealership. Everyone I've sent to Mike through the years, before he was the GM was handled with "kid (pardon the pun) gloves". He's a stand-up guy, as Bob has said, and he's treating the community the way we all want to be treated, fairly. Your complaint, should be with Acura, and I'm not saying that your complaint isn't valid. Early "adopters" will always have the biggest risk, as the market hasn't yet been established!

Thank you Mike, when pricing drops below invoice..................................J/K

We need Bob to act for us in a class action :)

I'm still pissed from when I was first in line for the '91 and my dealer then asked my for my bid which had to be a minimum of $30,600 over sticker after I offered $65k cash and he laughed at me.

But my mercedes dealer didn't laugh when I left the Acura dealership and picked up an S Class instead. I have had 3 Mercedes now from that dealer including all servicing over the course of 750,000+ miles and may be picking up an E63 AMG from them in the new year. The Acura dealer - - - I still won't do business with them but instead I flew to Buffalo a few years back to buy an MDX from a dealer who supports the club and our charity, Camp Good Days.

During the Acura On Tour presentation last December I was told by Acura regional manager and the two local dealers that ALL cars were going to be customer orders, my sales person confirmed. When the first batch hit the dealers (10+) I contacted my "NSX specialist" and was told those dealers used an employee to place the orders.
Last month I called a dealer in California and I was told there was not such restriction and he could order any car he wanted.
One thing is sure, the first cars produced went to the dealers rather than customers, this is what's causing dealers to start discounting cars and the 150 new NSX to seat at dealerships around the country.

I have to side with theKid on this as well. The way I see it:

1. If you pre-ordered, you were gaining security that if there WAS a huge rush on the cars you were going to be one of the first. There was a possibility that the demand was going to be through the roof, and you bought an insurance policy to make sure that wasn't the case.
2. Acura screwed folks over by putting dealerships ahead of customers. Blaming an individual dealership for that decision is a bit unfair.

I will agree with you though that the entire launch has been poorly handled resulting in an inventory glut and a poor image because of it.

Vote with your wallet!
Ps-I LOVE my SL55 AMG

I visited my local dealer and there was a blue NSX in the showroom. Evidently, it was just sold, but not to the customer that originally ordered it. The salesman said there was a deposit put down on it prior to the customer ordering it, but he still backed out (or so I'm told). The car was bought by a collector in Massachusetts and appears that it will be put in a museum. So wonder if that is something that happens more. Shame on both accounts with the dealer mark-up and this particular one not going to be driven like it should.
