This was taken off an S2000 forum but for those that are interested in running TWS 6 times between 2007 and 2008 for $1200 (comes out to $200 per weekend) and includes free garage space and longer sessions plus 5 sessions a day versus 4 for driver's edge. They need 10 to get a group price.

In any case, I copied and pasted the post below:

Well, I contacted Rusty at TWS regarding a "club discount" for 2007 Platinum memberships if we can get a group of 10 or more. He is very willing to work a deal. I am sure that we can get a deal for $200/weekend, and I may be able to do even better. I will not know for sure until tomorrow, because Rusty had to talk with the boss to see what he can offer.

Quick outline of what is included with membership:
- 6 weekend events (5 run sessions of 25 minutes each per day). This is a LOT of seat time for the $!
- Free garage space.
- For any reason you can't attend 6 events, the remaining credits will roll over to 2008 season.
- Priority access for preferred event dates. (i.e. Platinum member will get preference for available slots if event sells out).

I need to know who is "IN" (this means you're willing to put up $1200 in advance for 6 events in 2007). Please post you are "IN" only if you can commit, so I can get an accurate count. The money will be paid directly to TWS MSC, but we will get a special sign-up code to get the discount. If we get more than 10, I will work the deal to include further price breaks. If you want to read about the TWS Motorsport Club (MSC), go to http://www.texasworldspeedway.com/msc.htm. The schedule is not posted yet, but MSC will have 9 events total next year (we'll be able to run any 6 events).

I will post more info as I get it from Rusty. Can you imagine how fun it will be to hit the track with the same group of guys(and/or girls) 6 times per year. We'll have a blast!

EDITED to add 2007 dates:
Available Dates in 2007:
1/20 – 1/21
2/17 – 2/18
4/21 – 4/22
5/19 – 5/20
6/30 – 7/1
7/28 – 7/29
9/1 – 9/2
11/10 – 11/11
12/15 – 12/16

EDITED: We have the minimum 10 people so if anyone else wants to get in, it's a done deal.

I have done a couple of their events. They definetly do things differently. Some good, some not so much.

1. Very little instruction. Make sure you are a yellow run group student before you go.
2. Not as much safety orientated. Rusty was talking about not giving hand signals one wknd. I thought it was a CRAZY idea and most of us in our run group agreed to still use hand signals. Their was one guy in a Supercharged Z06 who wouldn't give hand signals and wouldn't less you pass:wink: . I just stayed away from him.
3. Lots a track time and free garage.
4. Alot less crowded.

Hmmm...thanks for the feedback.

One of the guys who couldn't participate stated that he ran with MSC back in the late 90s and it was a top notch group.

It would really suck to pay for this and find out that it's a "free-for-all" out there.

Here's the response from the guy organizing it when I posted Ritesh's comments

Some of this is fair, but some is ahhh lets just say "one persons opinion".

The instruction not being as good is an interesting comment since many are the same guys that instruct at Dirver's Edge and PC events...Funny. Not giving passing signals is certainly not limited to MSC, I've been in PLENTY of trains with DE so that is a universal truth about driving events period.

Here's a post from one of the instructors regarding MSC:

PCA has a social in town for all to mingle, DE has a pizza deal every so often and has had video to watch, last weekend Dick the owner of TWS had BBQ and Shiner Bock after the track went cold Saturday evening.

I instruct for all the venues, and not having to get a point by in the higher run groups is no big deal - still have to have a point in green and blue though. I still give a point by as a courtesy, and so do some of the instructors, mostly the ones from PCA which is probably the largest number of instructors. After you are out on the track for many events you know where people are going to drive, and there are several people out there that I have been literally inches away from and felt comfortable with that - then there are drivers in some of the other groups I wouldn't want to be anywhere near (had an idiot in red with DE that passed me down the front straight, braked at the top before going down into 1, braked again after the transition, then braked again right before the turn in for 2 - I only brake right after the transition, and I was allready turning in for 2 when I had to brake, and I did a bit of the ass dance with my car to stay in control without ass ending this moron) All in all it is very good, and I really like MSC, and if I had to only choose 1 venue - that would be it.

Just in case anyone still wanted to get in, the group buy is officially on. I am copying and pasting instructions for payment:

We are a GO!!!! Rusty just called Jeff confirming a price of $202.50 x 6 = $1215. Richard Conole TWS President passed away in his sleep last night. Thoughts and prayers go out to the Conole family/friends. Jeff is out of town and asked if I would submit a post updating everyone. All you have to do is call (979) 690-2500 and ask to speak with Rusty. Tell him you are with Jeff Sanders Platinum group buy and pay him directly. Please post upon completion so we know who's in.

I will be going to the first event in a couple of weeks.

I was talking about class room instruction. Not in car instruction. If this is the first time or the 1st year you have been tracking than TDE is much better place to start. However, once you are in Yellow(advanced intermediate) then all you want is more track time(even though everybody can learn more in the classroom).

TDE = good for beginners, too crowded for advanced.

TWS MSC = poor for beginners, excellent for advanced.

We have the minimum 10 so it's a go.
If anyone is interested in signing up, then PM me asap.
First event is next weekend (which many of us are not going to due to weather).
The schedule is posted in the first post and keep in mind, if you don't go to all 6 this year, your membership rolls over to next year.

$202.15 per event is what it breaks down to along with free garage space.
5 - 25 minute sessions per day vs. 4 -20 minute sessions per day with Drivers Edge
