"We finally got some official pics and a few details about Mitsubishi’s Eclipse Ralliart Concept that we posted on earlier. The Eclipse Ralliart is a 2006 model beefed up with a turbocharged 4G63 and all-wheel drive setup sourced from the Lancer Evo, as well as a custom air intake and other HKS performance parts. We’ll send Eric over to Mitsubishi’s display to get some more info on the Eclipse Ralliart in the coming days."

Evo watch out, this things looks nasty.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA so its the same setup as the original DSM Eagle Talon TSI, and Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX! (for the unfamiliar, these cars were 4g63 turbocharged cars with AWD they date all the way back to the early 90's to 99) Guess they figured out they had a good configuration the first time around

its funny how the NEW hottness is actually a OLD hottness =)

Either way looks hella better than the EVO, i'd take the eclipse ralliart over the evo =)

I had a Galant Vr4 with a 4G63, I think those engines are garbage. I had so many problems with my car, I just sold it.

The whole drivetrain on those cars were garbage. The evo was the first really reliable "dsm", even though it's not a dsm.

Hey, people, I'm still rocking the ol' 4G63 here... :D

EVOs still use the 4G63... so why not the new Eclipse? They're finally getting back to what we want... a turbo AWD Eclipse. Props to them.

Just make sure you sell it in Canada.

4G63 is a pretty beefy engine, alot of my friends have 400 rwhp daily drivers
they usually break transmissions way before engines go poop

4G63 is capable of an easy 400 whp on stock internals. There's a few guys running AWD Talons with 600+ whp as daily drivers. One in town here. Over 30 psi of boost, plus a nitrous system... it's pretty sick. 600+ whp... that's at or near 1000 crank horses... nuts.

Yes the crank's, and tranny's are the weak link. The crank will walk under high boost, and then slam the csp sensor. DSM is no-more, since Chrysler pulled the $$ out, so if anything, they are now "DM" They helped start the SCC craze, and really took it to the strip. I saw many mustang, corvette, and camaro owners get "owned" at the track by the gen 1's, 2's and 3's. I used to make the annual pilgimage to Norwalk back in the day.... (tons of fun) Got kicked out of a go-cart track with Brent Rau and Sean Glazer!!!!!

Gen 4's were an embarassment to the owners. (I defected to Honda waaaay before this, and I am glad I did)

Then Mitsu brings over the EVO, but builds it poorly (rusting) and then also back-stabs the owners with their warranty issue (track event investigation).

If they ever get their shit straight, and actually support their customers on-track, and build the car mentioned in this thread, they will be going in the correct direction.

They're gonna have to lighten it significantly if an AWD version of the new eclipse ever hits the streets. The new FWD eclipse is a very heavy car already. Add the AWD and it will prob be 4000 curb weight. That's Mercedes territory, and noone ever accuses those things, regardless of how fast they actually are, of being a sports car (which this needs to be).

I think it looks awesome, but yea, it needs a serious diet.

EVO's and Talon/Eclipse Turbo's are great cars and very quick; just try to get warranty work done. My 95 TSI AWD's warranty was voided for having slotted rotors on the car from 1996 onward and ive had countless EVO's and each one is a bigger POS then the next. Bad tranny's

I don't see it... but I'd take the Veyron...

As far as the cranks being the weak, that's only true on the 4G63s from '95 on and has very little to do with how much boost you're running. Mine walked a couple years ago at stock boost levels.

Officially, DSM has been gone since '93. Wierdly enough though, my '95 Talon has DSM manufacturer stickers on it. A lot of them just have Mitsubishi Motors. If you want something very rare, try and find a Dodge Avenger with a DSM manufacturer sticker in it... very, very rare.
