2006 Civic Si on Speed

Just saw an advertisement for a test they are supposed to be showing.
Sunday @ 8pm EST.
Should have Danica Patrick and Tommy Kendall.

I am eager to see how this car shakes down. After reading about it, seeing some pictures, and talking to some people on the 'inside', it is supposed to be worlds better than the Si it is replacing.

I can agree with that. I had a 2000 SI... great car. Then the hatch model came out and it made me sick. Sure it had about the same power and blah blah blah.. but it just made me sad.
Now the jury is still out on the new SI but I'm sure it'll be 4 million times better than the current one. Can't wait for a test drive.

I watched the program last night, and to be honest, I'm a little disappointed. Not in the car mind you, but the show itself. I felt the review was poor and also kind of silly. Watching Danica and (Tom) race each other around the track while taking jabs at each other was worthless. I felt I was watching some cheap info-mercial. Maybe I'm being a little harsh, but I was expecting a serious in-depth review of this highly anticipated new Civic.

Thoughts?

Speed does those "Test Drive" shows all of the time. The are always just informercials. You get to see some neat shots of the cars but no real objective information.

I see, thanks for clearing that up for me. If that's the intention of the show, then I understand why they did what they did. I'm just hungry for some more info!

The main points I gleaned was that it was 197HP and has limited slip. The seats look real nice too.

BTW - Anyone watch the special about Soichoro Honda that was adjacent to the Civic Si show? I thought that was decent. Also had some NSX clips in it!

With most of the gear heads watching and downloading Top gear, Best Motoring shows; it's still beyond my belief that no single US producer learns its lessons yet. I have seen many different shows and even they show some talented drivers there, it's more like a waste, or just so they have the professional names to draw us sucker to watch their commercials, uh, shows.

By the way, is the Si out to the public yet? Anyone had driven it??

I know someone that is supposedly already paid for it but is awaiting delivery at the dealership. I saw a coupe today but it wasn't the Si.
I heard it is to be out mid month.

Yea, i saw the whole thing. The special about Soichoro Honda was better the Si show. Watching Danica and the other guy race each other and commenting on it was kinda lame. I'll wait for it to show up on topgear and let the "STIG" make my mind up. The S/C'd one brought in by that car magazine guy was an early indication that the car will be hot. Tein, K&N and Motegi had very nice work done to their SI's. Very impressive.
