I am going to install the 2002 rear bumper facia. Question, do I need to drop the entire bumper first before taking the facia off? Or can I remove the bottom facia without removing the bumper. The service manual is not really clear on this issue. It seems difficult to get to all the screws that hold the lower facia on. Is this correct? Also I was wondering if anyone used it as is without painting. I blacked out the facia using electrician tape. The black kind of picks up on the front facia (My car is red) as you look at the car from the side. Just wondering.

So I take it you have to remove the whole bumper and then take off the lower facia? Yes, I can see where that would take two people. What are your thoughts on leaving the whole thing black versus painting it like the oem? So you are willing to help you say. I might want to take you up on that.

Hey Manny,

I think the way the factory paints the rear is very nice with the red on the sides and the bottom. Your car has a factory classy look. Painting it will preserve that look. If you have black wheels and a more racey look, then it is a different story. Just my opinion.

I have seen people painting the entire piece the same color, but I still prefer leaving the center section black.

If you are planning to do it yourself, I'd like to watch and lead a hand. Haven't done it before but interested to learn.

When is everyone getting together to do this project. Can I help too?  Yeah, I know my car is an '02 and doesn't need the rear valance.
