I have seen a few of the 2002+ headlights (silver area) painted to match the car as in the new style Corvettes.

The asssembly is held together with some sort of epoxy that dosent harden completely along with interlocking tabs on either half of the light, any ideas on how to seperate the two halves without damaging the peices? Or any first hand experiences?

TIA

Armondo,

Nop help from me, but here's a pic off the SOS site to help describe. I would think at this point that anyone that saw it woudl think you copied what a Vet has as opposed to the other way around as I assume the NSX mod was first.

They might think its copying the vette but they would be wrong as , the NSX-R has it this way from 2002.

You can use a heat gun (CAREFULLY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!) to soften the seal for dissasembly. I would use it on the lowest setting at a safe distance. You can reseal the light with Hondabond. I have a 2002 headlight @ work so I will look at the tabs tomorrow.

I did a similar mod to the my old S2000's headlights (baked them, opened them, removed amber diffusers, installed smoked ones). It wasn't hard - just nervous, as I was paranoid about busting the lights. There's a good write-up of the baking process here: http://www.ricks2k.com/info/instructions/diffuser.pdf

Our '05 will be undergoing this mod to match the headlights on the NSX-R.

you can also boil them. I would think its a little safer than baking them. Do a search for removing the "Acura" from the tail light center piece and do the same procedure to the headlight.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I am sure if I try and make "headlight soup" my GF will commit me for sure. Since we are having a hurricane weekend and we are stuck inside I will use this

and one of these

and a few of these

and see what happens. I'll have the number to my local Acura parts department handy as well as the phone number to the hospital emergency room.

The reason I got the silverstone NSX was to match the color of the headlight. Don't really like the contrast on other colors, especially red. Just my opinion though. Having the headlight the same color as the rest of the car makes it look more "together". By the way, I believe the '94+ Mitsubishi 3000GT had similar lights.
