Can someone explain how the 2002 headlights fit into the early model cars? They just don't seem to fit quite right.
If anybody has a picture with the hood up on a early model conversion that would be great.

Thanks,
David G.

You did replace the hood and the front bumper, along with the headlights, right?

I know what has to be replaced, but the headlights do not seem to fit just right. Just curious if anybody has any pictures.

Here you go. Its a gallery of someone in japan who did a 2002 upgrade.

I think there is a conversion kit/adapter at SOS. Not exactly sure. They might sell you the adapters to fit the 2002 lights.
Post some pics of your upgrade as well. Id like to see it too.
Take care

The 02 headlight is too big for the existing headlight bucket. Because of this, you will need to some how slightly widen the headlight bucket area where the 02 headlight adjustment piece comes in contact with it. If this is not wide enough, then the headlights will not fit properly. There are four mounting areas for the headlights. One in the rear, on the bottom, near the radiator, and on the front of the headlight. If you go to the headlight diagram on Acura Carland's website www.acuraautomotiveparts.org, you will see the two brackets that you need to buy in order to mount the headlight in your NSX. These brackets mount to the headlight on the bottom and in the rear portion of the headlight. I believe SWR can get brackets which allow you to utilize the fixed mounting areas to mount the front part of the headlight and the one near the radiator to the car. If you don't go this route, you will either have to make some brackets for these locations or don't use any at all. Here are some pics of the brackets from SWR:

Hope this helps

Thank you.
That is exactly what I was looking for. Now I know and knowing is half the battle.

Hi,
I noticed there are 2 sets of pictures.
One with black bucket trim and one with red bucket without the black metal trim.
My 2001 has the black bucket trim even thought nsx is silverstone color.

So does that mean the black bucket trim doesnt need the additional brackets?
Thanks,
Calvin

What areas did you need to cut to make the lights fit?

Based on my installation, I didn't cut anything. I only widened the bucket. If you look at pics 3 & 4 above, you'll see that this mod was done were the bucket was widened. This is so the black box control for headlight elevation is able to be fitted within the bucket. If you look carefully, you'll see what I believe was a 10mm bolt on top of it for manual operation of headlight elevation. Pics 5 & 6 shows an installation that was done by cutting the portion near the black box allowing it to rest in the bucket frame. I guess you can say there are two different ways of doing this mod. You might wan't to talk to Chris at SOS for his recommendation. Hope this helps :)
