2002+ Ashtray Size Question

Does anybody know if the ashtray on the 2002+ NSX is smaller than the previous years?

I'm thinking of replacing my 1991 center console with a 2002+ center console because of the lighter color and much cheaper cost. However, when I ordered a dash trim kit (which I'm not keeping) for my car...it came with two ashtray covers. One for the 91-01 and one for the 02+. The 02+ was nearly 1/3 smaller than the earlier one. This doesn't make sense because they don't provide you two different trims for the center console with different size holes?? Anyway, I don't want to have to order the complete ashtray assy behind the center console.

The illustrated parts breakdown doesn't look any different between years but the pictures are tiny...and I couldn't find anything on the search.

They are the same. I just installed a 97 re-finished console (for single din), but I put the 02 ashtray (guts) with the painted 97 cover. :smile:

I'd like to see pics of the parts in question. I can't imagine how the 02 part is 1/3 smaller

Thanks for confirming that. I just got finished checking the part numbers for the "guts" of the ashtray. They are the same for all years. This site is awesome. I attached a pic of the piece in question labeled 2002+ ashtray.... weird huh.
