Ok, first post, I know, but I've been reading this forum for quite sometime now, and after reading all I should, I finally found an NSX for me, as I am a little picky. Well, I really just had a couple questions I'm sure some long time NSXperts will be able to answer.

I bought a 91 black/ivory with 90k on it and it has a couple of upgrades I was looking for. Remus exhaust, Comptech headers, Dali racing clutch, and sway bar, and K&N filters. Well, I bought this car without even flighing out to look at it, which some of you may or may not disagree with, but nevertheless, I was comfortable with the decision. Anyways, I really am just asking what to expect, as far as power goes, I have drove a couple NSX's and they seemed a little soft or weak starting off, but they were completely stock, and I really don't thing they were running that good. So does anyone have any HP estimates for me, Rear Wheel and at the fly. There is hardly any information on this exhaust on NSX's. I'm not out to street race, but do want to know what to expect. It is to arrive shortly thanks to Intercity Lines transport.
Thx for the help!

You can look up some dyno results in the FAQ for various exhausts. Although I don't know if this particular exhaust is included, a well-chosen exhaust-header combination can add up to 15-20 hp, which is enough to be able to feel.

As far as what to expect, see how you like the car when you get it. If, after a while, you need more power, you can look into the various options for forced induction.

Just keep "poking around" making you questions as specific as possible helps and
most answers are contained in
NSXTASY's 5116 post's or in his head.
Just my opinion

As you can see above my response
PS...I run a RM RACING DTM for sound and asthetics solely (there are better performers )but I love mine. The weight of the factory stock one is tremendous(this I do know) www.scienceofspeed.com has filled in a lot of information blanks and priced very reasonably.IMO

Before setting aside the $$ for mods, I'd also suggest you check on:
- snap ring - is it in range ?
- water pump/timing belt maintenance - has it been done ?
- clutch - condition ?

Based on both time and mileage, its due for the t-belt / water pump service, and this can add up.

That being said, it sounds like you have a nicely-equipped car... have fun.

Good suggestions.

If it IS in the snap ring range, don't worry, but read this topic to familiarize yourself with the symptoms and know what to do if they occur.

Also - and even more urgent - make sure your power windows have either the new style regulators or the window thingies installed. If not, you are risking a sudden and unexpected $500 repair that you can prevent with the installation of a $15 part. 'nuff said.

You might get around 10-15 extra hp with the exhaust and header set-up, although it will feel like more due to the db increase compared to a stock exhaust.

I agree with the others, and I would really inspect the car over once it arrives because you'll be amazed at how fast some of the maintenance items add up if it wasn't keep to the schedule. 11 year old CV boots could be in need of replacement and I believe cost more than a couple hundred bucks + to replace. I replaced all 4 at the same time when 1 was leaking. Once your assured the maintenance is up to date it would be safe to plan for other mods since this car is so reliable.

Change all of your collant hoses. Don't let it surprise and strand you somewhere . . . like at the track.

wink wink. Anyway, that is a must as well on a 11 year old car. Kevin

nsxtasy,
which "window thingies" are you referring to as a preventative, that only cost $15, instead of the $500 regulators that are needed after they fail.

the most definitive dissertation on the dreaded window regulator thingies is located in the faq. The part is available through Dali Racing.

Here is the link to the FAQ section which describes the problem, and here is the link to Dali's website, where you can purchase the thingies. This topic has a set of photos (the original regulator, a newer regulator, and a regulator with the thingies) that illustrate the fix very well; perhaps at some point Lud can add these photos to the FAQ section.

Once the clip breaks, you are usually stuck replacing the regulator; new ones cost $350-400, plus labor if you don't do the work yourself.

When you have the door apart to install the thingies, make sure you lubricate everything while you're in there, as noted in the FAQ.
