I started a couple of weeks ago to check on the interest level of a friendly track event on one of the safer track in SoCal and got really good responses.
SoCal's first all NSX track event???
Track: Willow Springs/Streets of Willow, Rosamond, CA
Date: Nov 10, 06 (Friday). (The track is booked)
Minimum cars: 25
Maximum cars: 30
Cost: $160
Payment Due: 9/1/06
Sign-up sheets: ASAP (I need head count).
Tech inspection forms: Bring to the track.
Format: 2 run groups.
A - Intermediate/advanced
B - Beginner
Who can join: (THIS IS A PRIVATE EVENT)
1st priority - NSXs
2nd prioity - ex-NSX owners
3rd priority - anyone that wants to come. Only if we can't get 25 people to sign up.
Requirement:
1. A good running car. Tech inspection is required.
2. Snell SA2000 or newer helmet. We'll try to get some loaner helmets for those who don't have one.
3. Long pants.
4. Long sleeve shirt.
I'll provide sign-up sheets and need them returned ASAP so that I'll know the number of cars in group B so that I can plan on getting instructors for them. Safety is first and foremost priority.
For those that are sitting on the fence or hesitate to put your car on the track, you can look at this event as a friendly canyon drive on a reserved twisty road.
Pros:
Cons:
Please let me know if you have any questions. I'm excited to try to pull off the first NSX private track event in SoCal.

Pros:
- No law enforcement. A speeding ticket can pay for a couple three events already.
- No on coming traffic.
- Never get stuck behind campers, trailers or trunks.
- Everyone share the same passion.
- It'll make you a better driver by practicing the correct driving techique.
- A lot of driving in one day. I average around 120 track miles per event. With 2 run groups, you should have around 3 hours of track time.
- You can drive your car as fast or as slow as you want. Passing zones are set to accomodate people with different driving skill.
- If you are a speed freak, you can hit close to 100mph over 50 times in one day.
- "All friends" event means no pressure. Just focus on enjoying your day.
Cons:
- You have to pay to play. $160 comparing to autocrosses at $80 or canyon drives that are free.
- A lot of driving in one day. Of course you can exit the track anytime you please.
- Tougher on cars. But you can drive it as hard or as easy as you want if that is your concern. Group B is purely for that.
Please let me know if you have any questions. I'm excited to try to pull off the first NSX private track event in SoCal.
