In another thread, it was shown where the subject device is for OBD-1 NSXs.

This afternoon I removed the aft cabin panels to replace the main relay on my OBD-2, and I could not find anything that resembled the aforementioned sentence.

Two questions (a) is this part number 39400-SL0-A01 correct for a 1995 main relay (b) where is the subject device located in a 1995 NSX?

The part number is correct Andy - the number for OBD1 is similar with a "-003" suffix. It should be located in the exact same position, just to the right of the ECM as you look at the rear panel

edit - change to OBD1 part # suffix

K or K or K

Ding dang it.....I forget if your name is Kevin or Keith or Ken. :)

Third time is a charm - I bet you a margarita, it is Ken? Thank you for your help. I will look at the picture again tomorrow.

Not There

Interesting.....the main relay in my car is located to the left of the ECU instead of the right. Hmmm, something unusual about 1995 NSXs.

Which is right? :D
Is it to the right as in towards the right side of the car (i.e. the passenger's side), or the right as you would be looking at the panel (i.e. the driver's side)

Incidentally, the first thing I realized about driving in this country coming from Europe, is that two wrongs don't make a right, but three lefts do!

Left / Right

If you are in the cabin, looking towards the rear of the car, my main relay is to the left of the ECU. The interior of the NSX has a long, horizontal panel behind the two seats secured by "snap button thingees". At both ends of this panel is a curved panel secured by three screws. My main relay was behind the curved panel that is on the passenger side of the vehicle. In another thread herein that it is asked where the main relay (along with a couple of other items) is, there is a picture that you posted which shows where the main relay is. My main relay was nowhere to be found with respect to this picture. My car must have been assembled at 4:55 PM on a Friday and the factory probably just installed my main relay wherever it was convenient. :)

Isn't that 39400-SL0-003 for the ODBI version??:).

And Another Thing

When you look at the picture in the other thread of where the main relay is located, as I mentioned mine is not there. What one may think, is that if mine is in a different location, then the location shown in the picture would be vacant on my car. NOPE!! There are two other connectors there. Yup, definitively a "Friday afternoon" car. :p

Hi Andy,

The change in relay position is due to additional wiring (connectors, as you mentioned) for all the ODBII additional stuff. Never looked into the relay difference, maybe it is just how it mounts in the car, the bracket might just be different.

Later,

Larry's right again. I recently checked my 99 against my brothers 94 and that was the difference. Mounting bracket.
