ScienceofSpeed is offering for sale its 1992 Acura NSX coupe. The NSX was has received over $50,000 in upgrades, modifications, maintenance, interior and exterior cosmetic refresh (see attached replacement value worksheet).
ScienceofSpeed has used the car for various testing, promotional events, and most recently, to win Modified Magazine's 2012 "Street Car Super Tuner Shootout" where we built this car specifically to showcase what the NSX is capable of.
Being a showpiece for the company, ScienceofSpeed spent a considerable amount of time and money to not only upgrade the performance, but to also produce a car that looks as close to new as possible. In addition to the stage 1+ engine build, and car also features a ScienceofSpeed Twin Turbocharger System which has been upgraded to include machined billet compressor wheel turbochargers and upgraded fuel system to handle either 91 octane or E85 fuel. The car features ScienceofSpeed's FlexFuel system which allows it to automatically switch between 91 octane and E85 fuel on the fly. The engine produced over 650 wheel horsepower on E85 fuel (over 750 bhp at the engine!) A boost switch allows the driver to toggle between "low boost" (~ 450 HP) and "high boost" (up to 650 HP). Aside from the engine, the vehicle features an upgraded suspension, exterior, and interior with in-dash navigation system. The interior shows like new thanks to factory quality re-upholstered seats, refinished interior panels. The body, which features all original panels except for the rear bumper, was refinished recently and shows like a low model example. It features a brand new ScienceofSpeed Hybrid 400 Clutch & Flywheel installed - an easy to drive high performance clutch designed to handle the power this car makes.
Background:
ScienceofSpeed has owned this vehicle for 10 years. The NSX was purchased from customer's insurance company after a minor 15 mph parking lot accident. Despite no structural damage (it was purely cosmetic) the customer convinced the insurance company to pay her for the car for "diminished value". Due to this, the NSX received a salvage restored title despite only needing a rear bumper and brackets. No structural components were affected.
Overall, the vehicle is in excellent shape both cosmetically and mechanically with all service work up to date and is in ready to drive condition.
