just found a vehicle inspection report i had completed here in orlando at fountain acura in 2001. i almost purchased this vehicle. this was what the inspector found:
1992 gpw coupe with bbs wheels
40526 miles
1. heavy front end damage
2. wire harness and hood cable in front not attached properly
3. r/front a/c condenser is not bolted in properly
4. missing duct work
5. l/front frame rail towards rack and pinion is split
6. l/front spring has a spacer and rt does not
7. l/rear brake line not attached
8. r/r/rear of vehicle has had heavy damage
9. upper control arm is new
10. r/rear strut is dented
11. trunk pan has been poorly fixed
12. rear bumper bulkhead has been ripped off
13. front battery tray on underside has 3 correct bolts, one hole does not line (l/r) and has a self-tapping screw run through it and into the frame member
14. windshield is aftermarket
15. found retaining ring nut for an engine mount lying up in frame rail on rear
16. exhaust leaks
17. numerous nuts and bolts are loose
18. front emblem is incorrect and upside down
19. undercoating doesn't match
30. r/front fender liner is ripped
31. needs trunk struts, hatch struts and doesn't close properly
32. windshield molding on top is missing
33. wiper arm nuts are wrong (from a hardware store)
what i found:
1. panel behind seats loose
2. glass from windshield behind the seats, under the seats and in carpet
3. wiring harness under trunk carpet left over from repairs
4. trunk soaking wet
5. hole in trunk floor from incorrect welding
6. spacer in r/rear spring
7. multiple self-tapping screws used under vehicle
previous owner traded it for a zo6. between the time i drove it and returned to purchase it (two days), it had been driven and wrecked. they told me it was in for alignment and brakes. they never told me about the accident.
it was finally brought back to the dealership 4 weeks later with damage repaired.
after returning to the dealership after the inspection and notifying them i wouldn't be purchasing it, they didn't even ask why. i asked them if they wanted to know and they said "no".
hopefully whoever purchased it got a good deal and saved it.
i still have the original inspection report if the new owner wants it.
when i did the first test drive, the vehicle was 100% flawless, inside and out. not a mark on it anywhere.
