Hey guys

I recently ran into a 1991 Red/Ivory NSX with approximately 75,xxx miles. Out of curiousity I took a look at it and the exterior finish was beautiful and the interior was even better. After asking the owner about the car he states he redid the interior with new leather and carpeting and repainted the car after a "minor fender" damage after scraping the driver side front bumper. I read through the documents and it was done at a specialist and it looks absolutely perfect. All the work was done a few years ago. Title and carfax is clean with all the maintenace kept up. Drives well. The owner is a car freak and has 6 high end cars when i went to his house and the car was well taken care of. He says he is selling because he just doesn't drive the car anymore. My question is, because the interior and exterior was redone should that be a negative dealbreaker? Does the price sound right if everything comes back clean at the PPI? If not what price range should I be looking if things progress? Thanks

I think the price is too high. The repaint shouldn't be a deal breaker, however, you need to find out the extent of the damage that was done in the so called "minor" accident. Check your carfax, get your PPI, even consider having a good body and fender man check it.

good luck

CARFAX is clean qualifies for a buyback guarantee, I'll take it for a PPI and make sure everything is fine. What is a reasonable price if it is too high. Thanks

I would be careful buying a NSX that has been repainted with new interior. That is extensive work for a 91 and would lead me to question the way, in which it had been kept.

Personally, the price seems high. One would think that in today’s market you should be able to find a NSX in clean original condition with better mile’s books and records for $30K or less.

Good luck in your search

IMO that seems a little high.
Even though the accident was minor, the car still has 75k mi. I’m sure he poured money into the car to get it back to it’s original shape. You didn’t mention if it was stock, or had some mods - that will make a difference.

California has notoriously high prices, and I found a 1991 for 30k with 48k mi, no accidents, all service records, new wheels, after market stereo, perfect condition.

You may be able to talk him down a little - especially if you are waving cash in hand under his nose. Not a horrible price - but I think there are better deals out there.

I just purchased a 1991 (from this site) with 16,000 miles and '02 wheels for $33,000. Does this help for a benchmark?

Congrat's on a super find :D In what state did you find the jem?

That is too low. Figure $27-$29k should be fair.

That is too much $, I agree that $25k or less would be the right figure. Considering it needed paint and interior it must not have been abused or seriously neglected.

Recently bought my '92 for a little less than your price with 50K miles and a brand new trans (Acura goodwilled it for the PO due to snap ring), new clutch, belts, h2o pump, Bose speakers all rebuilt, '94 wheels, new leather, Zanardi mats, cover, bra, trunk mat and in darn near perfect condition. Still have the original leather, which is in good shape, but the PO wanted something new...

I felt I paid a little on the high side, but there was about 12K worth of work done to it in the last year, so I think the price was justified (on some level anyway!). No body damage, no paint work. If the one you're looking at checks out okay, I'd say it's worth closer to 28K or so.
