I wasn't able to find info on this using the search. Thought it would have been discussed to death. Anyway, I noticed my seatbelt latches are not compliant.

http://www.automotix.net/autorepair/recalls/16917-recall/

I remember this recall/fix had to be done on my 90 Integra back in the day and assumed it needs to be done on my current 91 NSX also. It was an easy support structure that was added to the latch. After some research it appears the 91 (92+?) NSX year is also on the list.

Questions:
1. Has anyone had this fix done on their NSX?
2. Can we still have this fix done today? Is there some type of statute limitation for this type of safety item repair?

THE FRONT SAFETY BELT BUCKLE RELEASE BUTTONS CAN BREAK. THESE RED PLASTIC RELEASE BUTTONS ARE MARKED "PRESS." IF A BUTTON BREAKS, PIECES CAN FALL INTO THE BUCKLE ASSEMBLY CAUSING THE BUCKLE TO OPERATE IMPROPERLY.

The list shows the following vehicles. The 91 NSX is on there. I had this recall done on my old '91 Civic. They attached a part to each buckle to reduce the stress on on the button.

Build Years/Makes/Models:
1986 - 1991 HONDA ACCORD
1986 - 1991 HONDA CIVIC
1986 - 1991 HONDA PRELUDE
1986 - 1990 ACURA LEGEND
1986 - 1991 ACURA INTEGRA
1991 ACURA NSX

seat belts carry a lifetime warranty. If you have any problems with them the dealer will replace it for free if it is defective.

Thanks for reminding me. A quick google search seems to confirm that seatbelts are a limited lifetime warranty item. Limited being... they won't cover it if your dog chews it up but most other defects are covered.

I have a call into my Acura rep and will report back once I hear from him.

When my car was in the dealer and they ran the vin, it came up that I needed to get my belts done. They are at the dealers an waiting for me to let them do it....even though they had my car for two winters at their shop, they never bothered to do it....go figure....so that answer to op is yes, in Canada anyways, they will do it.
Go to your closest dealer and ask them to run your car against recalls and see what comes up.

I remember back about a dozen years ago we used to do a TON of seat belt buckle guides on the second-gen Integras. Bet we did easily half a dozen or more every day.

Here's a copy of said recall.....
Tim- Thanks very much for this. It's exactly what I needed to bring to my local Acura dealer. It wasn't the easiest thing to convince them over the phone that such a service bulletin existed. Trying to avoid a double visit to get this fixed. 1) to inspect the vehicle and order the part if needed 2) install the part since they said would have to be special ordered. Though I would assume they have this item in stock? it's small and, you're right, this use to get done all the time. ...but it was several years ago... the double visit may just be SOP :(

In any event, thank you! It's great to have you here on prime!

I stand corrected for being a wise guy.
Never heard of the recall for the "NSX" belt assy. and should have checked further before opening my big gob.
Appologies.
Thanks Tim for the complete poop.
The Ac*** Dealer where I live sux in their NSX support. I don't allow my car to be seen in the area of them. If I p/m you my VIN are you able to check if mine has been done?
I think my drivers seat bullitin needs to be done as well as the anchor for the cover in the back is disconnected.
I think the belts probably weren't done as i'm the second owner and none of the previous ones were done.
It IS a snap ring transmission. We all know the deal with that. I plan on addressing that one as soon as I can save enough for a good used six speed and short gears.
I did all I was able to do myself plus the standard early NSX problems, speakers, ECU, etc, etc.

Cheers

I just took my car in for service and they said that this recall was not done and needed to be done. However, they said black is no longer avilable, only ivory and brown...was that even a color?. I see "half black" listed, does anyone know what that is? I wonder if that is what they are considering brown. Anyone know what it looks like?

Safety item, small, common? Don't assume your dealer will know about it. Unfortunately.

The anchor bolt thing to install a forward-facing car seat properly, that was common across all Hondas for about a decade, that the owners manual says to get from your dealer. Both times I've bought at my local dealer it was a special order item they (people who have worked in parts for years) were totally unfamiliar with and would not have found had I not supplied them with the part number.

Unless the person at the service desk has been with Acura for 10+ years, they wouldn't know the bulletin existed. I'd say about 99% of the affected cars were done back in the day, I think I've seen maybe one in the last 3 or 4 years that needed that recall done.
