What the.....

Has anyone heard of this car? A friend told me about this car he found out about last night that can do 0-60mph in 2 seconds. And it only has a 2.1 L engine! I was thinking, yeah right. But it's TRUE! It was so fast that it was band from competing:

The RS200 was banned from Rally competition in Europe in the late Eighties because they were too fast and consequently believed to be too dangerous.

Does anyone remember this car? I don't.

The Ford RS200 was the limited production version of one of the cars that they used for Group B rally competition. The rules stated that you had to manufacture at least 200 of them to qualify as a "production car." Lancias, Peugeots, Audis, and Fiats were the Ford's main competition.

The Ford itself wasn't banned for being too fast, it was the entire series! Group B rallies were exciting to watch, but were considered to be too dangerous and the series was dropped altogether.

I remember in the mid '80s when Road & Track took an RS200 out for a test drive. I wanted one!
