Im thinking about getting some nice rims... What's the overall opinion on the best size rims? 18front 19 back, or 17 front 18 back?

And what are some nice looking rims for the NSX. I got a Red 92...

Cheers.

I would advise staying with 17"F/18"R. The most common size tires used are 215/40-17 and either 255/35-18 or 265/35-18.

Any larger, and there are significant downsides: (1) Tire availability in suitable sizes is more limited. (2) Tires and wheels are more expensive. (3) Tires and wheels are heavier, which hurts performance. (4) Tire sidewalls are shorter, so that the wheels may be easily damaged from hitting bumps and potholes.

I've been quite happy with my 17/18 setup after having run it for three years on my '94. I have 17x8 and 18x10 HRE 547's with 215/40/17 and 285/30/18 Bridgestone S0-3's and really like the look and performance. Yes, the larger wheels are heavier and there is a slight penalty for it but, IMO, the look is well worth it. Be prepared to put some different springs on the car when you change the wheels as the gap in the fender wells will look atrocious. I run Eibach's and am very happy with the clearance, ride height, drivability and performance. Best of luck to you.

For the most part I would agree with nsxtacy however, it depends on the year car that you are talking about. Below are some charts that will give you an idea of which size are best in relation to your oem sizes wheels and tires. Additionally, you need to keep in mind the TCS.

On my 2000 which has 215/45/16f 245/40/17r you will notice from the chart that the 235/35/17f and 285/30/18 rear would yield the least diveation (.6%) from factory set up of 4.7% front to rear ratio vs. 5.3% however, 235/35/17 is not an available size so one would default to 215/40/17 which yields a .7% deviation from factory set up. Tampabaynsx-r has the same set up as I have chosen and by the way those HRE 547 are killer looking and were my first choice until I priced them. I bought Volk GT-C with SO3 bridgestone for half the price. Good luck!!!

Hi Roy, we carry a pretty decent variety of wheels for the NSX. You can see them here on our website.

Yes, it depends on the year that you are talking about. I would recommend the 215/40-17 front for all years. (Using wider tires than this in the front will almost certainly rub the wheel well liners.) The 265/35-18 rear is a better match for TCS on the '91-93, and the 255/35-18 rear (which you omitted from your chart) is a better match on the '94-03.

'91-93
215/40-17 +3.0 percent
255/35-18 +0.7 percent
265/35-18 +1.8 percent

'94-01
215/40-17 +0.7 percent
255/35-18 +1.3 percent

265/35-18 +2.4 percent

'02-03
215/40-17 0.0 percent (stock size)
255/35-18 -0.0 percent

265/35-18 +1.1 percent

Get the 18/19's. I'm running HRE 546's 18x8, 19x10 225/35/18, 285/30/19. They look great IMO. Sure they're heavier, sure the fronts rub at full lock, sure my effective gearing is raised......all for the sake of vanity. Isn't this country great ;-)
