17 year old dupes BMW dealer into delivering a $123,000 BMW to his high school

Definitely not the sharpest tool in the box, but the kid has guts:

NEWARK, New Jersey (AP) -- A teenage boy posing as a banker duped an Ohio car dealership into delivering a $123,000 BMW to him at his high school, police said Thursday.

A second order was never shipped after the dealership became suspicious, and the teen was arrested. The first car was later found in Raleigh, North Carolina, police said.

Since im not a fan of MAG at all and recomend my parents never to buy any cars there... Lack of respect among their sales people (used car MAG store is a different story)

Im glad that this would happen and maybe some of the personel would get a makeover.

The salesman at MAG that this happened to is my guy over there and a good friend of mine. The story as you are reading it is missing many facts including fact that Mag's bank confirmed the wire was recieved from the customer. They thought they had the money so they sent the car, same as when I bought my 996 from them by wire and had it shipped to my home 500 miles away.
Also, the guy was having the car delivered to his home not the school. The side street was too narrow to turn the truck around and the school was only a block away from his home so they used the parking lot there as it was safer and easier.

I know what you mean. I did the same thing when I bought my 2002 Porsche 911 Twin Turbo. $128,560 was the final price and they tossed me the keys and I drove away only signing a few papers and tossing $1,000 on the table. They confirmed with my bank (but it could have been anyones bank) that there was $100,000+ in my account, so I drove away. If I were a crook and the bank info was fake, then I would have driven away with a $128,000 Twin Turbo 911 for $1,000.

Thankfully, most people are honest. I think it is a shame that some dealers try to be accommodating only to get screwed in the process. It just makes it harder for people like me who buy 2-3 cars a year and sign and drive away.

I should correct myself. the MAG bmw and used car lot are together on the other side of 270. I have yet to have a bad time when browsing automobiles there. It is the Main dealership area VW Audi Porsche Ferrair etc... That I have and (mother has) experienced the lack of respect for individuals as they are looking and are potential buyers. I watch two employees give me the eye over and walk by...I had to go into a break room to grab an employee out to get information on the new S4's.

Another time I walked into MAG(auston martin) to look at and talk about the new DB9's looking for the parents because they really haven't the slightest clue about cars. I never got a simple hello, as there were sales reps walking around. Finally they approach me when I am observing the Vanquish and say "yeah thats for sale 275 grand" in a smart alecky way. And than walked away no conversation what so ever. I wanted to be a prick but I just got out and left thinking to myself that this dealership will never get my business nor my families. Even more so mine because in a few years I will not be as timid to drop 100+ on an automobile.

Isn't it not a good idea to have over $100k in the bank? It's not FDIC insured over $100k, right?
