OK guys here is the list that has been compiled of events/times for the Kelowna car rally. Some minor things will be changed along the way but nothing too drastic. We still could use an Alberta member to plan a few routes for our Alberta atendees. Try to plan on arriving in Kelowna around 6pm no matter where you start from. I know people have been asking about prizes and such. The big guys back East would like to see everyone who isn't an official member of the NSX Club of Canada take this opportunity to register. It helps fund things exactly like this. They are going to send us some rare NSX books as prizes, Stacy'sNSX is donating a set of polished door accents (thanks for reminding me!) and I will contact Harmony Acura in Kelowna and see if they can donate something to the event. Big thanks to prime member 'DC' for his assistance in putting this together. His knowledge of the routes and events was greatly appreciated!

If I have a vote for the route to get there from Vancouver I say option "C".I know the Hope Princeton is BEAUTIFUL but if you get stuck behind a rig it is awful.Coquihalla would be the most fun and wide open for the occasional "spurt"(with-in reason).Three lanes with alllllll these cars would look in-sane !
But hey I will follow the crowd,which-ever way that may be.
BTW Aaron just to say again,I will be donating a set of the polished "Door Accents" for a door prize !

Stacy

PS Thanks to Aaron for setting this event up !

I'm still undecided on which route to take , I drove the spences bridge-lillooet-whistler route last summer, fun road, I started in hope though. It is a great road in many places, really bad in others, my car looked like I was in the paris-dakar rally by the time I got to whistler (In july) And it was covered with bugs (some of which I have never seen ,and some were still half alive ,yuck!)I'm not at all suggesting that people avoid this route, but I did it on someone elses advice and was mad at them(I almost turned back once the road/weather got bad) remember this is a mountain road that is seldom used/no cell service/little mantenance , it's great for people who "daily drive" their car but if you have a car that is immaculate ,it will be scary/irritating -at least, I will try taking the route which has the least amount of risk ( rock chips/dirt/(dangerous)wet roads etc. I probably sound pretty "AR" at this point ,but I think it's important to let people know what they are getting into
there is also no rest stops or services for quite some time along this road so you're stuck in the car for a while.
It's also very possible that my experience on this road is somewhat atypical, but I doubt it .
If I were to drive this road again, I would start from hope in the morning, drive just past lytton , then turn back , all of the good road ends there.

please realize that this is only my two cents, the choice is yours!

Awesome work Aaron - you guys are going to have an amazing time!!!

I'm excited - this is the beginning of NATIONAL NSX Appreciation!!!!;)

I think all members driving from the coast will have to take into account road factors (conditions/weather) on the day of the drive. I will get road conditions on the 15th of May and post them for all routes. As well i will talk to people in some of the communities we will be driving through for their input on current road conditions. I mean we aren't driving trucks and I for one will have a newly painted front end and don't need a fresh rock chip as a reminder of West Fest '08. It's ok if some decide to take alternate routes, i'm sure no one would be travelling as just one car unless they can't get away until late on Friday.

If anyone is planning leaving thursday morning/afternoon to Kelowna from Alberta contact me, I will be leaving then, and we will setup a time and route to go.
I am trying to avoid the long weekend rush (so bad may long), as it could take up to 2 hours more driving if traffic is bad, so many motorhomes and trailers and semi trucks,.Also this gives me a longer weekend to visit locals in K town.
Will be heading back home to Calgary monday.

I think we should have a Calgary NSX meet soon, maybe Chestermere Landing again on a sunday buffet, and discuss any plans for this West Fest event, and make some plans on who is going and when etc...
What does everyone think?

The local RAVELCO anti-theft distributor is donating a Ravelco unit for our prize pool for West Fest. These units usually go for $189 and need installation. Lloyd will sell them to our Prime members for $169 if anyone wants one. He is located in Kelowna. For info on the Ravelco please visit www.ravelco.com and check it out. I just bought one of these babies and no matter what your car stays where you park it! I am awaiting a response from Kelowna Acura regarding prizes as well.

One thing to keep in mind is LOOONGG weekend traffic. You may as well add alot of time to which ever route you take thus why I suggested the faster of all the routes.Seat time is one thing but a numb A$$ is another,LOL !!
All of the routes there bust down to one lane where as the Coquihalla is as smooth sailing as it could get,but that is just my $.02.

MaxiY, I'm in to leaving anytime, Just let me know, I just need a place to bunk for an extra nite, no problem I won't think.....
Hopefully I would have the ctsc on and could keep up to you.

Unfortunately I am just a poor working schmuck and won't be able to leave until 3-4 p.m. on Friday. With traffic, I hope to arrive in Kelowna around 11 local time. I will be able to stay in town longer (probably head for home Wednesday?). If anyone in either, Edmonton or Calgary can't leave early and would like another car to drive with let me know and we can plan a route!

Hey gang, the Manteo has 5 rooms left in our block of reserved rooms. Be sure to call them asap to set yourself up with a room if you haven't already. Unless we fill these rooms soon I doubt we will ask them to hold any more for our members so it could be your last chance. I believe that you have a 48 hour cancellation window so if you are on the fence and unsure if you will be coming it might be best to reserve a room now and cancel if you can't make it.

btw...I found this picture on wreckedexotics.com, lets hope that our NSX caravan of cars doesn't run into the same misfortune as the owner of this NSX!!

I won't be able to leave until Friday afternoon either. I suspect there will be a handful in this situation so even if a few people leave on Thursday, and a few on Friday you shouldn't be on the drive alone. I do think a get together somewhere prior to do a meet and great and plan things out is a solid idea.

Trev,

Let me know your plans, if u are planning to leave thurs to Kelowna its all good with me.That makes 2 cars for thursday so far.
I think there will be 2 runs probably thurs and fri for the people who work till 4pm fri.We will have to work the details for everyone. Are you Northern friends planning to come to Calgary first than K town, or meet up in say Golden or somewhere.

Will probably start a new thread on Alberta meetup to see who is going and when to plan to travel with others. Also I think we will have a meeting soon to confirm all people and make route plans.
I myself will probably just take the trans Canada past Revelstoke to the Sicamous turn off, and continue from there.

You do not need a SC to keep up to me travelling, I will be doing the speed limit most of the time, untill someone is in front of me and I will pass them and resume speed.
But hopefully for your sake u will have CTSC on to enjoy a newly boosted experience.

Anyone else planning a earlier trip thursday.
I may also stay till tuesday will see how the weekend goes.Hopefully the weather is on our side.

I've never known an NSX to get stuck behind ANYTHING.

These are paved roads. There can be some gravel, but not much. If it rains your car get's dirty. Wash it/detail it. Bugs happen.

The roads are frequently used so 'the next car coming along should not be a big wait, but there is no easy service. If you chuck it away you might have to wait, but sensible exuberant driving should not result in this.

If you're worried about ships, go to Colgan and get a bra - pretty cheap.

I have driven these roads many times, without incident. The last time I drove the Duffy Lake Road it started to pour half-way home. I wrestled the wheel out of the hands of my then 18-year old duaghter and took over, determined to back right off. Suffice to say that even on summer tires, the car in the rain on those roads was still a blast. I didn't have to slow down too much (hot Dunlop SP9000s).

Have fun, drive your car. Re 3 vehicles abreast on the coke; parades are for, .. I don't know, ... what kind of vehicles do you see in parades, Floats? At the very least go Highway 3 Hope-Princeton to the Okanagan. For those who may be heading out early Saturday morning, this will land you in Summerland for the Blossom Run.

This should NOT wait until May.... March is upon us so anything in the next 4-6weeks max would be smart planning. We don't NEED to have our rides there to plan things guys. I know mine won't be coming down off the lift until the end of April.

Tim

How about Red Deer on a Sunday afternoon? That way we can meet the folks from both cities and all parts in between. Is Olds even considered a town yet? End of Marchish?

I would enjoy a run down to Red Deer... but end of March might be a little early. I hate driving my beast with all the loose crap on the roads. Keep me posted though... it sounds like fun.

I've already had to wash mine twice, haha.

There isn't really anywhere nice to meet in Olds, unless you want to meet at my house.

I probably won't bring the car in March, but at least we can get together and chat about upcoming West Fest. I am sacrificing alot to go, My MOTHER is coming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   I need a babysitter

I just wanted to let everyone know that the good guys at Harmony Acura in Kelowna are donating $500 towards our group event. I told the owner (Manse) that we would put it towards a group breakfast. I also asked if he could send his top mechanic there to come join us at the breakfast to field questions, and offer advice on maintenance, etc. Red from back East recommended the idea and Mance agreed to it. In return for Harmony Acura's generosity we will stop by their dealership for a group photo.
