Re: 08 Acura tl type s calipers on an nsx????

it looks a lot bigger then the OEM nsx calipers and stop faster..i think the Type S calipers is made from Brembo that Acura is using.

Oh, please! They WON'T make the NSX stop shorter or faster.

If he wants to make his NSX stop shorter or faster, there's a 100 percent chance he will get better results by changing to stickier tires than by swapping the calipers.

This.

Can you engage ABS? Congrats you're already stopping as fast as the car is capable of stopping. And on the off chance that you're not, a simple swap to a more agressive brake pad will solve that.

All this will do is add some bling and make your brakes worse by screwing up the brake bias.

This is what happens when you put Acura TL brakes on an NSX....

Your friend's an idiot. He's going to spend 3x the amount of money vs going with a big brake kit with crappy results. Obviously "your friend" is not doing this for performance reasons as he doesn't understand brakes at all (they don't stop you faster only help with fade) and he should just get these on ebay for $25.

What Ken said ^^^^

When testing the NSX, Bobby Rahal commented that the OEM brakes are superb. Bobby Rahal probably has forgotten more about racing cars than most people know. Fact is that the OEM brakes are more than sufficient to stop a NSX on stock power and are beyond the driving capabilities of most owners to use to 100% capacity. Putting big brakes (whether a TL kluge or Brembo, etc.) on a stock NSX will just make your friend's wallet lighter, by a lot. The only time a BBK makes any sense on the NSX is (1) if you make it faster by adding a Turbo or SC, and this really only matters on a race track; or (2) you are a professional or near-professional level driver who has mastered the technique of threshold braking and finds himself overcoming the thermal capacity of the stock rotors on a regular basis. Even then, race pads and ducting will usually solve this problem.

If it is looks/bling your friend is after, then I think CL65's suggestion is perfect. And a lot cheaper.

Re: 08 Acura tl type s calipers on an nsx????

indeed 90% of the bbk's are for SHOW and not needed, although on some other cars it is.

Stock NSX brakes, Hawk or EBC pads + braided lines and good discs should be great for 80% of the X's.
If it's a NA1 go to NA2 brackets and discs.

Now back to your question,
Sure it can be mounted what you need:

Custom bracket (machined)
2 piece rotor (+ NSX hat)
done

Is it worth it? that's a other question personally i really like the look of quad piston calipers.
But when i upgraded the brakes on my car i just went to 300mm discs added EBC pads and Goodridge lines.

that was a funny ass video, that guy was nuts.

I have a 08 TL type-s and I looked at the brakes and I would love to have them on my NSX I like the acura painted on the side but thought to myself
my NSX stops just fine why mess with an already perfect design

but some of the guys on here say that if it not an NSX gas cap it will mess up your transmission.

take it with a grain of salt.

try it do a write up and then your an instant hero

also kinda reminds me of

a guy goes into the doctors office with burning sensation when he urinates and ask the doctor, " I have a friend that when he urinates it burns what should i tell him?"

are you the guy wanting to put the TL brakes on your NSX fess up will ya..! LOL J/K

Bobby Rahal has probably forgotten about the NSX. They are good brakes, but not superb brakes. Porsches have superb brakes. For street driving OEM are more than enough. For the occasional track day, more than enough. If you drive hard on the track and have exhausted all the cheap fixes, then go BBK on the front. But installing a BBK or even worse Jerry-Rigging a BBK for bling factor on a street car is a waste of money.

If you install BBK on the front and not the rear, doesn't that mess up the car?

I agreed with u guys.. I told him the samethings.. But I guess he wanted to b different. I'll b laughing if he did it.

I'll make him read this post..this is very helpful

So, was this post really asking for your friend? or for yourself? He's not on prime?

No. Billy, Ryan and I can attest that a Brembo GT on the front and OEM on the rear, while may not be optimum, it does very, very, very well on the track. If I was really racing I would want it on the rear, but for heavy HPDE use the loss in braking performance is minimal and it actually helps in trail braking as the bias is forward. Not to mention, you're talking about an additional $3k for the rear. My fade issues are ZERO now with just the fronts and the car will brake with the best of them. Watch some of my videos and I always catch people at the end of the straight before going into turn 1 at Putnam Park.

it not for me guys....i LOVE my NSX just the way Honda build IT.

I was talking to him today and he was thinking about CONVERTING AN 93 300Z HEADLIGHT ONTO NSX.

"GOOD LUCK", i said.

This video makes this thread worthy. LOL

CL65 Captain's needs a clarificiation - though he has noted this before in other posts.

To keep the barke bias relatively stable - ideally in the range of 60 front/40 rear, you will need to use a more aggressive pad in the rear with OEM calipers. The Brembo GT caliper (same front and rear) has marginally more braking force than the more balance set of Stoptech BBK. As such, the selection of the rear pad's coefficient of friction may need to be higher than otherwise with front only Brembo GT option; which also means more wear on the rear rotors - this even if you change pads for street/track. YMMV.

Okay now it's getting plain wired, that can't end well....
There are plenty of JGTC lighting kits.

Re: 08 Acura tl type s calipers on an nsx????

tell him if he wants to convert the NSX to something else save the NSX and just buy something else

Since the Brembo brake systems use the same pistons sizes front and rear; the bias is much further away from the OEM bias than simply upgrading the front alone. Despite more front bias by upgrading the front braeks alone, it still works very good for track use -and is better than the stock brakes for the 1% of NSX drivers who can push their cars to the limit on the track.

IMO upgrading just the front brakes to Brembo is much better for the overall braking ability of the car than to to both the front and rear. However Stoptech and Performance Friction are the only current options that have a proper bias designed for a front and rear kit.
