I went to the Honda dealer tonight and was hoping they had a new Civic SI but it is not out yet but they had a new civic coupe woth the HFP package on it and all blacked out. I got to tell you it is a pretty cool looking little car and the HFP package makes it that much better. The interior is wild looking and how Honda laid out the tach and everythign else was really nice. I only got one pic as my camera died right after and please excuse the damn salesman who would not get out of the way.

That seems like a hott car. I would buy THAT generation civic, if I ever buy a civic in my teenage life, becuase it looks INDREDIBLE! I would like the Si though, hell, even drop in a K20A (for those who DONT know, The DC5 Integra Tpye-R , RSX-R basicly) and boom, have more power and tourque, Or even a K24A (TSX)...no replacement for displacement

The new civic is pretty sharp. Pacemaker, why do a swap to the Si? It comes with a 195hp K series engine. With all the money you waste on the crazy expensive used K series motors you could mod the hell out of the stock k motor and smoke the swapped car. Maybe I am missing something.

Kid89 is missing the point of this car. This engine is designed for after market accessability. Honda learned from their mistake after their little fiasco with the last gen Civic.

However, I don't believe the older engines will even fit in the bay. My girfriend brought this car home while it was still in the prototype stages at HAM. She is partly responsible for the design of the doors. Anyway, I opened up the engine compartment and was shocked by the lack of room that was left in the bay. My guess is that most extensive engine work will require the engine to be dropped, not pulled. Our NSX engines are even more accessable from the top side! To me, it looked like a nightmare to wrench on, but I'm a wussie when it comes to engine tinkering.

Best part of the new Si is the tranny. 6 speed with 4.7 final and LSD. Perfect IMO for a honda engine which lacks torque often times.

The SI will not be released until December. The "regular" coupe and sedan are already out.

BOOM! have more power and torque, because its that easy or at all cost effective as nucca mentioned.

JK kid, how old are you man

I am 15...16 on the 16th of October....I know these K serien Engines...They are great...sure you are all like WTF IS HE THINKING? I am not those punk ass kids at the mall who think they kno stuff and they dont...I KNOW what i am talking about...but lets say this...you find the CHEAPEST like DX trim of this model civic...and you want power...No point in doing up a DX trim engine...drop in a different one...If they come out with a type-R for this...they will I bet, not for the states (BASTARDS!) then an engine swap is totaly awesome....Even in the old Si..people were dropping in K20As and K20A2s in them for more power and a better engine to work on...Flame if you want everyone but I would drop in a K20A or a new Type-R engine in it...not to be like...OH DAMN I GOT ONE...I would use it to my potential and really mod the F*** out of it to make it NICE not RICE

As long as you don't ask us about putting the NSX engine into an accord or legend, you are ok by me. :p

It was a CRX.

So does the A-spec, Mugen or Type-r monikers all gone away with the new HFP label?

A-Spec if for Acura. They are using HFP for the Honda brand. Type R is still used in Japan and rumor has it they won't use it here. Same with the Type-S. From what I remember, A-Spec is supposed to be a better replacement for Type-S.

No flames from me, but do they not teach grammar anymore in HS?

Sorry about the grammar...I type fast and well I am used to word with the I being uppercase and I used AIM and well duh, you dont need to type like that...but I can type a MEAN essay if I want to

The actual point is that the Si that comes out in Dec. has the RSX type s motor in it. The only reason that the hp numbers are lower are because of the new method of rating hp being used. Save your bills and buy an Si instead of modding a Dx. The only advantage of modding the hell out of a Dx is because on average older model Dx civics can be bought cheap and if you are going to do a swap the milage on the car is not a huge concern.

Ok fine...IF any swap is going to be done...the future Type-R engine...which would end up being like 3K w/o install...So is it worth it? Depends, on your budget and what you want you plan on doing with it. Only thing to do is to wait 'till SEMA, see what everyone is going to put out (not many turbos, not the best engine to be blown), and then decide what to do. Another ?...is anyone here THINKING about buying a Honda Si when it comes out, jw.
