I am foaming at the mouth over this new Elise! I will not sell the NSX, but I think it might be a nice replacement for my wifes M3!
This car rocks....1900lb ,190 hp-0-60 in less than 5 sec and should be close to 12's in the quarter. 35-40 mpg and then the handling........this thing should be about the closest thing to a race car you can buy!!! All for 40k!!!!!! Sign me up!!!!!!!!!

I hear you. Check out EliseTalk

I am FIGHTING off the urge to trade my daily driver for an Elise. If I did, the Elise would be the daily, the NSX would be the weekender and the insurance company would own my testicles.

I would be absolutely crazy to even think about it. However, if I were a little nuts I think I would go for Bordeaux Red Pearl w Biscuit interior, add the touring package and a hard top.

Not that I am considering it, of course.

White94 : how could you be "nuts" if the insurance company owned your testicles?! Are you with the "mafia-insurance pty ltd"? :D

I saw the Elise at a carshow today... they are SOOOOO SMALL. I didn't like it. It was TOO small. But if you're keeping the NSX, it would be okay. :p

daily-driver...!?!

hmmm, it would be quite endeavorous to think of a Lotus Elise as a daily driver... sans' many comforts that we take for granted. Stiff ride, entry-exit is very challenging. I had to get a ride w/ my colleague for 8-9months in London who owned one.

Quite masochistic to have as a daily driver IMHO.
:o

In this thread, some reallife experiences with the Elise are mentioned.
All is say is, drive one, before buying one.

Exactely, it would be wise to listen your Euro-NSX-fellows! :p

Elise and daily driver are very distant words... try one, nice car for a track day. Terrible car for EVERYTHING else. :(

Did everyone forget that it might be too small for most people to be a daily driver? And don’t even start with the practicality issue.

The Elise is a track day special. Some thing the Britt's are very well renowned for building.

We had one here to play with last week, and I have one on order as an additional car to the NSX ***AND*** my daily driver. It is very hard to get in and out of with the top off, and nearly impossible with it on (and I am only 5'5"!!!!). It is going to be an awesome toy, track rat king, maybe even a one or 2 days a week to work car, but not a daily driver in my opinion. Should be way fun though :)

be carefull guys,
over here in the uk there is a saying about the lotus name:
(L)ots (O)f (T)rouble(U)sually (S)erious, and its not without good reason.a friend of mine bought one when they had the rover K series engine in them and the head gasket went on it (comon problem with that engine)nessecitating(sp?) a new engine.whenever it rained he had water sloshing about in the passenger footwell, and he was told that was normal with the elise.he had the car for about 4 months before he got rid of it.the body is plastic or fibreglass not sure which but in the event of a bump it is not a straight forward fix.
what is the availability of parts going to be like in the US?.
DONT JUMP IN GUYS.GIVE IT SOME SERIOUS THOUGHT
