02+ wheels or lowered with spacers?

Has any one lowered their 02+ and used 15mm spacers at the same time with OEM wheels/tires? If so, do you have any rubbing?

What if you put the 02 wheels/with OEM Bridgestone tires on a a pre 02 with Bilstein lower perch and 15mm spacers. Given that they are wider wheels, will you get rubbing especially on the fronts?

I think you know where I am going with this ...... ;-)

Congrats Hrant! Let us know when you get it. ;)

I'm going to assume you will run into some rubbing issues.

215/40R17 on the stock fronts are also the recommended plus 1 (or +2) size for aftermarket wheels for pre 02 models. Add on the 15mm spacers... I think there will be some rubbing.

!!! just guessing !!! (I just wanted to be the first one to say congrats if you get one. I didn't want to post whore too much.) :D

Since to my knowledge the fender well and the suspension did not change from pre 02 to post 02, the only question would be the spacers and the Bilstein lower perch on both situations no?

So in pre 02, we know you can lower and sapce out, but perhaps on 02+ you can only lower or only space out but not both because of the new wheels/tires?

Inquiring mind wants to know, and hold that cigar for a little while longer ........ ;)

:D

That's what I'm guessing.

The question mark is the change in wheels/tires.

People have lowered their NSXs using the lower Bilstein perch and used spacers on the old 16" wheel... but you never hear of anyone using the spacer with a +1 or +2 wheel upgrade.

I guess it all might depend on the offset of the stock 02+ wheels.

If I recall correctly, the need for spacers with the stock '02-03 wheels is due to the spoke design, which interferes with the calipers, not the offset, which changed by only a slight 2 mm from earlier.

Depending on how much spacing you need, you might be able to get away with flat plate type spacers like these, available in thicknesses of 1/16", 2/16", and 3/16", rather than the wide spacers (15 mm or more) that require the replacement of the studs. Just remember that you need at least six full turns on the lug nuts...
