02+ Owners...Valance Upgrade Question

I recently installed an 02+ Valance and noticed that the bottom of the new longer "V" shaped bracket (aka "stay") has a square hole in it but no threads to accept a screw. Can someone with an 02+ car take a look and let me know what I am missing? :confused:

I tried calling the dealer but their parts catalog didn't show anything. I am wondering how to attach the bottom of the valance to this new stay. I am thinking there must be a clip nut or grommet that goes into this square hole. Also, is the top part of the stay attached by placing it through the cutouts in the mesh? It seems like that is where is is supposed to be placed. I wanted to make sure I installed it correctly.

If someone could take a minute to take a look or snap a pic I would really appreciate it. :smile:

To the search nazis...Here are some related threads on the '02 valance upgrade I found by searching :biggrin:

That is a mystery to me...the stay has no threaded hole on the bottom and there is no listing for a clip nut. Item no 26 looks like it is something related due to the position that is shown, but it shows a qty of 7 so that isnt it either.

That diagram was the best i could help. I don't exactly understand the piece your talking about but if it's not in the diagram then its not on the car.

I have also notices weird holes in panels that look like they should have something that goes in them but they don't. The 02+ rear valence itself has a few holes under it that i can't find a reason for their presence.:confused:

The part in the diagram is #11. I've installed a diffuser a couple of times and remember having to undo whatever's holding that part to the valance for access to the bolts for the diffuser but can't for the life of me remember what held it on. I think it was a screw with a really big head.

I'm too sore from a skiing accident to crawl under the car to see, but if this thread isn't updated in about a week when I think I'll be able to do so I'll take a look for the OP.

Big D,

If I am understanding your problem, you are referring to something similar to Post #4 on this thread:

http://www.nsxprime.com/forums/showthread.php?t=76997&highlight=valence

When I installed the '02 valence, I had to make a trip to my local hardware store to pick up the following:

1) 1.5 inch bolt x 1 (I forgot the thread pitch size, but the hardware store could help with that if you bring the "V" into the store.
2) Washers x 2 (these will go between the head of the bolt and the plastic of the valence
3) 1/2 inch nylon spacer (this will be used to prop up "V" in a position parallel to the valence)
4) Accompanying nut (this is used above the "V" to cap off the bolt that will be threaded through the "V")

In lieu of a picture, here's what it should look like using plain text (also imagine "(" was the lowest point in the setup):

(--|--||--|=======<--H---

Translation:
" ( " = head of the bolt
"--" = thread of the bolt
" | " = washer
" ||" = plastic part of your valence
"--" = more thread of bolt
" |" = one more washer
" === " - Nylon Spacer
" < " = Top of the "V" bracket
" H " = Nut to cap off the bolt

Sorry if this is confusing, but hope this give you a perspective of what you will be needing.

BINGO! I am missing the white plastic/nylon piece that is installed in the bottom of the 02+ stay that the screw attaches to. I wonder why this was not included with the stay itself?

Thanks for the help!

I responded to a similar thread back in the summer. I took some pictures of my solution, which is a nylon spacer, about 1" in length, between the stay and the valance. I'll see if I can dig up the picture somewhere.

I already have the longer stay and don't need a spacer, I just need the nylon piece that the screw threads into. Thanks though!:smile:

Do you need any spacers for the Jetz valence? It says that its 100% fitment without any modifications. I just want to know what to expect before i install it. I have a 97 and wanting to put the Jetz 02 valence. Any input or if anyone else has the Jetz valence and how they installed it would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, you either need a spacer or the longer stay for the 02+.
