Allen (XTNSIV) has one of these on the edge of his NSX wing color matched, it looks like the width fits perfectly from the picture. Allen, can you confirm that the width is the same for both cars Also, would the BMW piece flex enough in order to match contours of say an aftermarket NSX wing (my Comptech widebody wing that has a slight convex curve in the center over the brakelight?)

the M3 lip spoiler is off a COUPE and not the 4 DR. this is VERY important since BMW does make the same lip spoiler for 4 DRs (and is shorter), so be careful. The length in almost exactly the same. The M3 lip spoiler is a hair in length longer (maybe a mm longer on each side vs the stock nsx spoiler).

The factory M3 lip spoiler also has more of an arch, than the NSX, so it needs to be straightened in order to fit.

In referrence to the curvature of the comptech wing, the only thing I can suggest is to see if your local BMW dealer have a lip spoiler in stock (since it is a common part) and ask to see it. It's made of urethane, so you can play with the wing a bit.

and for those who asked why not put the '02/'03 deck lid spoiler on....I did (the Dali version) and it has two holes for screwing it down, not just tape.

What can I say??? I love downforce! but I'm not going for the crazy look, just the subtle stuff...

take care,
Allen

Is it for E36 or E46?

Thank you.

Tiger,

it is off of a E46. they never made a factory lip spoiler for the E36.

Thank you for your response.!

Hey Allen,

How did you install the M3 lid? Do you have to drill any holes on the OEM wing or can you double side tape it? IS it stable enough, or does it flap around at high speed?

thanks

Why not use the 02 lip?

I have one of those sitting in my garage, but the quality of the fiberglass finish was rather poor and the same bodyshop that has painted just about everything else on my NSX couldn't get the surface to look smooth. They tried at least twice to sand, reprep & repaint it but it ended up looking like crap (wavy). It became cost prohibitive to get it to look worthy of mounting it. BTW, it was a replica.

The BMW wing is ~ $125 list. I had a shop discount of 20% back, so I got it for ~$100.

the body shop orignally mounted it with just double sided tape, but since the wing on the NSX is so straight and the M3 trunk lid is more curved, there was a lot of stress of the very out side portion of the lip spoiler. It worked fine on my car...even at 150mph+, but I knew that it would be safer to glue the spoiler down (much more permanent, but I don't anticipate ever taking it off). Definately no drilling will be needed.
