Unfortunately I don’t see any other way. There is a feed line that comes from the sump to the oil pump that you can possibly wrap a screen around but that that can cause other issues if something builds up from there

The whole motor has to come out to get to the pump

Please keep us posted, mine was able to start up a few times but started smoking after all that happened, towed home, tried to pull it into the garage and that’s when the motor locked up.

Oh and by the way, a max oil pump is 18k from Acura so you’re better off finding a used motor by then

Picked up a used motor, going to tear apart the old engine further and figure out what destroyed the oil pump

Were you able to figure what caused this to happen? Manufacturing defect or some weak point in the engine?

Was this ever resolved? Literally just had the same happen to mines, 20k miles and driving, lights all came on and then started smoking. Dropped the motor and it seemed something broke in the engine, sending it into the oil pump and destroying the gears. Having to drive deeper to see what...
