yes, and there is no firm answer. different states handle it different ways (GA uses a formula that comes out to about 6-8% of the vehicles value). you are trying to present a dim val. claim, and i wouldn't expect more than $1000. most people think they are entitled to a lot of money...

a) that's going to cost alot more than $5000!!! b) your best bet is to normally use the insurance company's preferred body shop EXCEPT if the shop is not experienced at repairing cars made of aluminum, which is very very hard.... My very strong suggestion? find a shop that repairs Mercedes...
