Thanks for the tips Old Guy. Especially the parts link.
I'm unsure what the shop did, but I'll call them on Tuesday and talk to them. For the price I paid, it should have been fixed.
They assured me that the would stand behind their work. I guess we are going to see.
There's been a lot that happened since I posted last. I'll try to update that later.
But currently I am having an Idle Surging Issue. I took the car to an independent workshop, who services another NA1 NSX, here in Richmond. They found some possible causes:
1) A/C Compressor Belt tension was...
Small Update (and sorry for taking so long to respond to the awesome info)
1) The Acura dealership replaced the front valve cover gasket.
2) The Acura dealership also replaced the "Front Plugs". I assume they mean the caps on the ends of the cams, on the front bank, but it is an assumption...
Small update (for me to remember, but also hopefully for future searches).
Took car to another Acura dealer to have the work from the last dealer confirmed.
This new dealer found more (new) leaks, but said the solenoids were not leaking. This was confirmed with fluorescent oil dye. I will be...
Thanks for the input Old Guy. That is super helpful.
I'll do some shopping around and see what can be found for cheap and then start poking around, as you suggested.
Hey all,
This is going to be a little lengthy, but that is to provide details.
Short Summary: Car smells of burning oil, even after turning off with less than 2 miles driving.
Request: Things to check? Common occurrence? Odd-ball things to look for?
Ok, so now on to the crazy-detail...
I'm based in Richmond, VA. Unfortunately, this is just a little too far for me. But next year hopefully I have all the issues sorted out and can join up.
Have fun everyone, and please send pics.
I've been looking unsuccessfully for the last 2 hours for part numbers.
The parts I'm looking for are shown in this pic. It is basically the two different styles of push-pins that hold the plastic cowl-cover down.
Part numbers and/or sources would be helpful.
Hey all, I've moved away from Michigan now, but still keeping track of the goings on.
Have fun at the Woodward event. I'll send some buddies over that still live in the area.
Oh, and I forget if I've ever posted this or not, but before I moved away from the DTW area, my car was featured in a...
I have a high mileage car (that still runs and has an engine). Might suit you. I'd even drive it to Texas for you. (Used to live there and miss it)
PM if you think that might work.
I meet some of your requirements.
1991, Black outside, Accident Free, only very slight mods (K&N air filter, radio)
I'm near Detroit, so not a huge drive from T.O. But it is a U.S. car. If you aren't finding what you're looking for, keep me in mind.
Thanks for the fast response.
I'm wondering if the mechanic is thinking that the middle gasket (held by the red dot bolts in the first link) are the "body" leak. I think I may just order the gaskets and give it a whirl.
But I do still have the cam plugs and oil pan to figure out. Maybe wait...
Sorry to raise an old thread, but this is the newest thread I could find that slightly applies.
I have a 1991 Manual. 166k on the Odo. Smell of burning oil when driving. Turns out all 4 cam plugs, the oil pan, and something around the VTEC Solenoids is leaking.
All but the solenoid leak is...
I haven't used these guys, but a friend of mine who works at a body shop in Eastpointe takes customer cars all the way to Plymouth because this place is that good.

Right on.
L15A engine from a 2009 Honda Fit (SOHC). Need cylinder boring (including alignment to the crank), con rod & piston balancing, block and head decking, valves and seats cut and aligned. That's about all.
Car arrived Friday.
I've burnt about a 1/4 tank of gas riding around figuring out what needs to be done.
So far:
1] How to set the clock - DONE 4/1/2018
2] Shift knob turns for no reason
3] Rear hatch open light on, even though hatch is closed - DONE 4/7/2018 (someone had leaned on the switch...
She got loaded today and should be home on Friday. Trouble is, I will still be in New Jersey. Oh well, arrangements have been made anyway. Hopefully there's no problems.
Another option is a plate transfer from your winter beater to the NSX every year, if you like the idea of a metal plate instead of paper.
I haven't done this yet, but a buddy of mine used to do it on his V12 Jags and a 20 year old Buick Park Ave. Probably more expensive than the paper tags...
I know nothing about either of those tire brands. Also unsure what tire sizes you intend to run.
However, I had a Ford Focus RS for a short while (before Ford bought it back for the taste of lemonade) with the Michelin Cup 2 tires. Great tires for track and street combo. I was able to turn a...
