Valve cover gaskets and timing belt question

And I'm the doofus who keeps ordering/using only OEM Honda/Acura parts (generally from oemacuraparts.com) - under the dual logic that (1) guaranteed to get OEM quality with zero effort/thought and (2) it sends a signal to Honda that these parts are still in demand which may help them decide to...

Battery light, EPS, ABS lights on.

If you suspect alternator issue...first double check the main/thick wire that charges the battery and the signal connector for alternator controls. I've had issues with both. Thick wire corroded so essentially disconnected - lost ability to charge the battery (I think this resulted in battery...

    Roll Centres

Since docjon's attempt to go offtopic didn't work, I doubt mine will, but... Is this just an idea, or something you are actively pursuing (and is it being pursued in a way that will result in product others could obtain)?

Brake rotors - do they make a difference for HPDE?

My OEM rotors took years of abuse (and developed a lot of spider cracks) before warping (and wearing) to the extent they needing replacement. Whereas generic rotors didn't even survive two days at Road America. Not sure if discrepancy is due to quality differences between the rotors, or user...

    CEL Codes

The old water and ignition coil gremlins... In 20 years I've never had issue with water. I've washed my engine directly, used every kind of car wash (by hand at home - sometimes without warming up engine before or after, commercial DIY station, tunnel, gas station automatic), driven in...

    Oil Pan Gasket - Leak

I'm at almost 30 years on original pan gasket, so any relevant experience I have comes from replacing oil pan gasket on other Hondas (the few I've replaced, never leaked on me)... I suspect the "black art" used at the factory and folks like LarryB is to have all the surfaces perfectly clean...

    Trunk struts

Does sound like with the right tool (dental pick, which I don't have) it might not be difficult. Interesting that the ball studs are yellow in that video. I thought they came unpainted (black or silver) when the car rolled out of the factory. So either that area was repainted without removing...

    Smell rubber burn.

Shad's site lists the replacement clutch disc for the CT PG1: http://www.drivingambitionmotorsports.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=30 Didn't realize he could still source the other parts and offer full clutch. That is great news. I've had the PG2 for around 20 years, love it. When it goes, I'm...

    Who wants a cookie?

I wanted to source some NSX cookie cutters to include in swag bag for Denver NSXPO (2012?) but was unable to find. Just ordered a set. Good things come to those who wait, or something.

Good luck separating them from the old struts.

    CEL Codes

Oh, wait, you are OBD2 where things are easy. Codes are pretty standard, just Google them.

    CEL Codes

Use the online service manual to lookup the codes. http://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/Reference/1991_svcman/1991servman.pdf Page 6-12 (that is a hypen, like page 12 of chapter 6).

Today is my 20 Year Anniversary on Prime.

Congrats! How was I on the NSX listserv yet didn't get the memo about NSXPrime until three years after y'all? You guys really are the Prime OGs!! At least I beat The Kid here. ;)

    Advice needed - head gasket

I don't know what is meant by "lower" head gaskets. There are only two head gaskets - one per bank. The pre-1997 head gaskets have similar reliability as early Legend head gaskets. Not horrible like Subaru, but not great either. I think issues are more common than realized, and they can start...

    1991-1999 ABS System

Modulator, pump, accumulator, etc. Removed in good/working condition from 1991 with 65k miles. Price includes shipping to lower 48 states. $500 Red circle in picture is highlighting that the orange power connector was removed (to use with conversion kit). Wires and tips are intact, so you can...

    Rear Wheel Bearing track life?

And what about staking? Is the nut edge being un-dimpled/un-staked to some degree to allow the nut to back off - or is there opportunity to more-fully stake/dimple to prevent movement? But maybe that's just going off the symptom (nut backing) instead of the cause (???).

Where are all the Production deliveries ??

What does that mean? These folks don’t know about the specialists, or they aren’t allowed to? What would they call the specialists for? Is Acura considering making PMC tour less expensive (free) to folks buying the car new? (Like 2018+ customers.)

    Rear Wheel Bearing track life?

Pardon the 101-level questions: All mating surfaces the axel nut touches are 100% dry/clean (no oil, grease, paste, dirt, etc on driveshaft threads or flat surface the washer touches) before nut is threaded and torqued? Can the staking be done in a manor that provides positive retention...

NSX-R 02-05 ABS conversion kit (for 90-99 and 00-05 cars)

My thoughts exactly. The old one is unreliable (not to mention lower-performance). New one has great fit/finish being an OEM part (just from other years), lighter, reliable, better-performing, safer, etc. Similar to removing my hardwired NSX phone and CD changer - might impact value if I were...

NSX-R 02-05 ABS conversion kit (for 90-99 and 00-05 cars)

Just cost. A couple thousand miles of driving and two days at Road America race track confirmed for me how much better this system is. It’s really a HUGE improvement in performance and feel. Seriously effective driver aid. Zero regrets for me.

Where are all the Production deliveries ??

Yah, nothing says luxury like something worse than pleather. I think this is why the full/real-leather seats in the new NSX are more expensive than the ones with junk/alcantara inserts. https://youtu.be/aebUNgMhQV4

NSX-R 02-05 ABS conversion kit (for 90-99 and 00-05 cars)

I wonder if the ends on the wires are same as what are in OEM connector. If I pull wires/pins out of connector from old module, will these slide in? (If possible, this would avoid splicing to re-use connector from old module. But if it doesn't work and you try - may ruin old connector making...

NSX-R 02-05 ABS conversion kit (for 90-99 and 00-05 cars)

What kennyvb said. The brace is independent of the mounting bracket that gets re-used. It can be installed or removed with either system. It is necessary to remove from mounting bracket to get old system off the mounting bracket (unless you want to undo the banjo bolts between accumulator and...

NSX-R 02-05 ABS conversion kit (for 90-99 and 00-05 cars)

Kit installed, works, nothing to troubleshoot. Two questions about wrapping things up: 1. The four now-unused orange connectors in front of the modulator. Is it safe to plug them into each other (they fit) to keep clean/tidy - or might that cause harm (connect things that should not...
