I've been searching, but the highest velocity I can find is about 1000fps from a pump. Anyone here shoot cans in the backyard? What is the highest velocity available?

TIA

It's been a while since I've had anything to do with bb guns, but my father and I have or had 2 bb guns that look like 9 mm handguns that used a CO2 cartridge to propel the bb's. Maybe they still have a CO2 powered guns out there.

Hard to find more than 1000FPS (but possible up to 1250FPS) & that would be in pellets - BBs will never achieve that velocity. But See this important fact regarding the effect of the sound barrier (~1100FPS at sea level)

Here's a 1250 - single cock break-barrel, no pumping

That's a great site - dozens of models to choose from!

Do you want killing power or pure speed?
You can get a 900FPS in a .22 calibre that will deliver more impact than a .177 1000FPS

Check out the pre-charged section - my favourite right here (in .22)

i always wants a PSG-1 which made in japan with lots of metal parts, but its just too expensive (i mean i could afford it, but for airgun, its really expensive), i found one with some mods and its almost $2,000. and too bad, its illegal to have such kind of airgun in NYC.:frown:

I went to Big5 and got me a cheaper to start out....a classic daisy model 880 shooting up to 750fps. I killed 5 red bull cans so far :D But I don't like the pumping action. I will upgrade shortly.....

Beeman or RWS spring air rifles. You can get 1000 fps on .177 or a bit less if you go .22. Decent guns starting in the $300 range.

make your own hollow-points!

Marlin .22LR semi-automatic is a great beginner & time-passer @ $150'ish & another $25 for a mediocre 'scope... then again, I'm in Texas (air-guns are the next step from squirt-guns... ).

Look in to the Beeman line. They really are the best for the price. I have a Beeman Kodiak with a gas charger (I switched out the spring deal). Single barrel break, and it's pulling 825 ft/sec with the .25 cal.

Anyone know anything about the .50 caliber pellet guns?

Crossman sells a 1000-1200 FPS model. Its a break barrel and requires no pumping. They go for like 100 bucks.

This one just got released a couple of weeks ago.

<object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/UbOCyMEFhyo?version=3"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/UbOCyMEFhyo?version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="390"></object>

I'm waiting for a .177 version if they will go that route.

What caliber?

I have the Gamo that you can use shotgun shells designed for it.

good thing bout mine is its break barrel no pump so u break the barrel in half theres a spot where u can snap the barrel in 2 break it down til u hear like a click noise(cocked) insert the .177 pellet snap it back up and take off safety and shoot
