Hi guys i have a 97 spa yellow nsx-t...

I already purchased the hood just wondering your guys thought if i should either:

1) paint the whole hood yellow

2)paint the hood yellow but leave the carbon exposed on the scoop part of the hood

Thanks again for your guys input!!

Either one looks good, I would just find the best possible paint shop beacuse I have heard that the yellow pearl colors are very difficult to match/replicate

Option number #1 like Frank Sopano's Yellow replica R.

Looks way better than a brief bit of Black/Carbon exposed. The carbon look detracts from the nice lines and coloring of NSX's...too fast and furious looking.

i vote for #2. It creates a really nice contrast to the car. I have always thought the spa yellows were just too much yellow. That small bit of black breaks it in a nice aggressive manner.

Agreed.

Only times where the exposed CF looks good IMO is if the NSX cockpit had the black finish instead of the body color finish and then windows tinted.

What type of Type-R hood did you buy?

Maybe you cold post a picture he on Prime with the Type-R hood on the car with all exposed carbon. Would like to see how the carbon hood looks on a yellow car.
Actually I have ordered a Type-R hood this week (decided to make the jump because the thinking yes-or-no was driving me crazy). My car is a red one, but I intend to paint the whole hood except for the underside.

I like the whole hood painted the same color. dosen't give it that rice look, but thats just my opinion. Above pics, it looks like we are trying to acheive two different looks. I went with the type-r look, looks like the other car used some parts but not trying to achieve full nsx-r look. It's your car, Im sure whatever you choose will look good. Frank

I guess i should mention that i do tend to prefer the "fast and furious" look.

I vote Option One, all yellow.

Hi guys,

Thanks for all of your great input on the hood....

I ended up with choosing option #4 which wasn't listed in the poll... HAHAHAHAHA

I painted "most" of the hood yellow, i left the inside edge of the scoop exposed cf, and i left the mesh grill black.

Let me know what you think, and thanks again for all the comments (i'll try and use them next time. hehe)

It looks good, but could you post some 'normal' picture of your hood instead of using a fisheye.

Which Type-R hood did you purchase ?

I think By Thursday or Friday I will be able to post a pic of the the same job that weedwhackers has although mine will be red. Curious I have not seen this thread till tonight and came up with that choice without seeing weedwhackers pic. The choice was made via my painters love for the carbon look and my fear of looking like a kid. Hope to have pics posted soon.

I will try and post more pics later... I don't have any right now... but the hood is the VIS type-r hood.

does anyone know if there are air deflectors for the VIS Type r hoods to be Had?

I believe almost every airduct will fit in with the VIS hood.
I just have my car back with the painted VIS hood (nine layers of paint  ) and am planning to make an airduct myself.

If you look around on Prime (search function) you will see that several people have created nice looking airducts themselves.
