How well does your OEM car cover fit?

Just like the title says. I ask because I purchased a previously owned OEM cover for my 91 and it doesn't cover all of the car. It's super snug and the bottom 6" plus on each side of the car are visible. I don't think something like this would have shrunk that much and wonder if perhaps I have inadvertently purchased a car cover to fit the 2002+ car with the revised front clip. It wouldn't help with being short on the sides, but perhaps it wouldn't be so snug to get on and off.

I'll post a pic of mine over the weekend and you will see what I'm talking about.

Tim

Your assessment of the fit is correct. The one that we offer is only 2" above the ground at best

Edit: And it will not shrink as it is microfiber:tongue:

That's interesting because my OEM covers all of my '93 NSX. You have to be careful washing the cover... it's 100% cotton and it can shrink.

Mine fit really well until I got a beagle puppy a few years back. He learned how to chew and one of his lessons was on the NSX cover while I was at work.

My OEM cover covers the whole car, even with the Type R wing.

My OEM cover fits quite well. It's snug on the nose, but it covers the entire sides of the car and you can't see any painted surfaces. There is some bagginess in the rear around the wing, but I figure it will be perfect for when I get an NSX-R wing.

My OEM cover is tight and also leaves a couple or more inches at the bottom.

Also just recently I've noticed the "N" and the "X" of the red NSX on the front are fading. The "S" still looks great and I find that very strange.

Note in the picture above, the covers have just been laundered and are on the cars to dry.

My cover is definitely not that tight. I have some room in the back and side.

my OEM car cover (blue NSX stich) fits like a glove and covers the whole car. even the sides that u are reffering to.

will try to post pix.

That's it! Only mine shows the bottom 4-6" of car. Shrunk up I guess. If these are all OEM covers, then why aren't they the same??? My aftermarket one fit like the first photo. The one I just purchased a couple of months ago to be more "factory" fits worse IMO. I even have to fold the mirrors in and the out in order to get the cover on it's that snug.

Man, the NSX even looks good when it's covered.

My OEM cover isn't that tight (I've never washed it, so that may be the reason). It fits smoothly around the entire car and there is a little bagginess at the rear under the rear bumper (covers the exhaust tips nicely though).

My oem car cover is the one that came with mine. My car is a 1991. It fits perfectly. I only let the dry cleaners wash it though. It actually comes all the way to the bottom of the rockers and the leather piece fits under the doors. Perfect fit with no paint showing. It is snug too.

I was under the impression that car cover I have is OEM (i.e. came with 1991 NSX)...and it looks nothing like yours. I'm wondering which of ours is/isn't actually OEM (or if both are, but just of different vintages/suppliers/designs). Attached are a few pics from last year of mine. You'll notice the stitching is in different places, the material is different (more shine), it fits, and there is no "NSX" embroidered on the front.

While it's not pictured that way, it will cover the exhaust tips just fine. Don't be distracted by the "R" on mirror - I added that with a perminant marker to help me orient the cover on the car correctly before unfolding it.

BTW, When I wash mine, I use cold or luke-warm water and do it by hand (or feet, actually) in our jetted bathtub, with a very small amount of die/fragrence/etc free detergent (like what you'd wash microfiber towels with)...then rince a couple times...and dry suspended (6 chairs under it so it doesn't touch the ground). I don't think it would wash/dry well in a machine (it's almost waterproof so folds hold pockets of water, water doesn't freely pass through material, etc).

Mine fits snug. I washed it once in cold water in the tub.

latzke, your cover is not the factory OEM cover.

Correct. Was always a bit uncertain...now I know.

I found this thread with pictures/info of both old (1991-2001) and new (2002-2005) OEM covers.

Prices/Part Numbers for both can be found in this post.

Nice find latzke. I didn't know there was a cover for the 2002-5. The red cover is made of gortex I think and it was available from Honda of Australia for 500 AUSD.

Got part numbers for these?

Sorry I missed this post initially, here is the Honda website for these covers:
http://www.honda.co.jp/ACCESS/automobiles/nsx/exterior.html

I have owned both the red goretex cover, and the blue thinner cover... both are intended for outdoor use, but the goretex cover has a soft inner lining, while the blue cover is 'paper thin', the goretex version can also be purchased with door ding pads integrated into the cover.

Thanks. Here is a translated page for those like me to whom foreign languages are foreign.

Also some currency conversions as of today:
157,500 yen = $1,278.74
189,000 yen = $1,534.49
23,100 yen = $187.55

Ouch. I like the 500 AUD ($430) quoted above much better.

I have a snug fit on my factory cover even with the 02+ wheels.
That's a very nice garage you've got there, with your four NSXs!

My aftermarket cover fits pretty much like that one...

(BTW, the wheels shouldn't make a difference in fit.)
