A few weeks ago I was invited down to Palm Beach with drive the Lamborghini Esperienza. This is a program designed for Lamborghini Owners to show them that the new Lambos will actually complete with Ferrari in the Challenge Series. Lamborghini infact will be starting the Super Trofeo series here in the US after great success in Europe for the past few years.
Anyway my friend is the director of sales for Lamborghini Atlanta and he knows I am interested in a new toy so he asked if I wanted to carpool down in my NSX with a few other Lamborghini's to West Palm Beach, how could I say no so I packed a bag and met him at the Dealership at 6am last Wednesday.
The drive down was fun but when you are running with Lamborghini's that are orange, lime green and white convertible, your NSX seriously starts to look like a Honda Civic. We did a few high speed runs when the roads were clear and when I thought I was going fast, (150mph) the other Lamborghinis got up to 180-194mph leaving me in the dust. I have to say those cars are rock solid at high speed.
Everytime we stopped at the gas station people would gather. I can honestly say these cars can cause accidents because people stop paying attention to what is in front of them.
Once we checked into the hotel, we were excited because we didn't know what to expect with this new program. This was the first time Lamborghini was doing this in the US so it was new to everyone.
The next morning we drive over to the track (Palm Beach International Raceway) and this is what we see:
I do not care who you are and what kind of car you drive, ANYONE would be excited about driving cars like these.
We did a drivers meeting in the morning with actual Factory Drivers from Italy and gave us some instruction on how to drive some of the cars. The basic rule was "Do Not Crash Our Cars". Beyond that, our morning would consist of driving exercises such as braking, lead follow, dramatic stability control and so on. Afternoon they would let us loose with all of the different Lamborghini so we know how to put all of the information we learned for the day together on the half track. They had 2 Aventadors LP700-4, and about 15 Gallardos. LP570-4, SuperLeggera, LP550-2/Spyder, LP560-4/Spyder, LP570-Spyder Performanta and my favorite LP570-4 Super Trofeo (lightweight Gallardo)
AND HERE IS THE AFTERNOON WITH US RUNNING AROUND. I am in different cars and instructors are either in the lead car or on the radio talking to us through a 2way radio.
Overall we had a great time and made a few new friends.
Ed and I drove back to Atlanta and it was a car show the entire way home.
AND NOW THE INTERESTING PART
My friend post some pix of the event on the Lamborghini board and in the last photo was a photo of my NSX and it seems most Lambo owners still love the NSX
