Hey guys, my nsx paint is getting old and needed a new fresh paint. OG color is Formula Red. I thought, well if I have to paint the whole car, might as well spice thing up a little bit. Candy apply red is something I alway wanted it. Would this lose the value of the NSX???

What do u guys think???? Any ideas?????

Lose value to whom? It sounds like it would inclrease the value to you and if so, then I'd say do it.

Lots of guys will tell you a repaint will kill the car's resale, but your talking repaint either way since the factory paint is "tired", so really, what have you got to lose?

I say do what you really want, and enjoy the hell out of it.

Original color. Unless you're willing to repaint everything.

Locally there's a metallic dark red X. I'm not all that fond of it but that's my opinion. I'm not sure candy red would look all that good.

I personally would go with original Formula Red. It's a great red especially when it is maintained well.

I agree!

But you do need to keep in mind, at some point, you may decide to sell. It's gonna take that one particuliar person whom also likes CA red to buy it. It may set on the market awhile. I agree with the others, it's your car, but it could hurt you down the road. Just my .02:smile:

There is/was a candy apple red WW NSX I thought it was a beautiful red. However I agree if you are going to do it need to do it properly.

Its your car, do what you want... just be sure its done correctly (engine bay, under the hood, etc) You'll lose potential buyers if you ever sell who want a stock NSX, but if you like the candy apple then go for it.

"You gotta do what Randal Pink Floyd wants to do" and that is you! If I remember correctly, there is a JDM color close to the candy red. If you like it, maybe look into that option. IMO this should not hurt the value of the car as it is a factory color and the buyer pool would hence be larger. Plus, you'd be the envy at most meets! +3 You gotta go all in though and make sure it's done to perfection.

What is the JDM red color code that is similar to candy apple red Sportsmind4me or AnYoNe??? I never new that!! That's a great ideas

Once you switch away from non OEM color you have hurt the value in many peoples eyes. Some people may find it more desireable but then again this will be a niche market and very few will be willing to pay a premium for it. If the paint is done well you should be able to sell for the same price as a comparable NSX OEM color with all ever things equal. Just my $.02

R-508P was Monza Red Pearl.

Note that pearl is not quite the same as candy apple,
as is explained in in the Wikipedia article on metallic paint.

apple candy looks great.

since you are planning to repaint the whole car, might as well go with the color you want, as long as it doesn't look too bling or too "fast and furious" color. Harder to resell with the bling color, I think.

Just make sure you spend the money and do it right. It will look good and you will have an easier time to sell down the road.

my .02 cents, and it's worth as much as you pay for it, nothing !!

Dude go with the Monza Red Pearl R-508P. I don't know if you've seen Honda's pearl colors (Imola Orange and Long Beach Blue are good examples), but the effect is amazing, especially in sunlight. Way cooler than "candy apple" in my opinion. You just need to make sure you have a painter that understands how to properly do the pearl tri-coat on the NSX.

notice how all the examples of candy/custom paint are also widebodies or have many mods, not too many stock bodied cars are repainted with "unique" colors.

As above, Monza Red Pearl if you want an OEM color ... was supplied to UKDM S2K as well as <4 NSX. Sunlight will turn it from a deep almost plum red to a bright vibrant almost pink red .... interesting color!

As for doing it right, door shuts and under the hood & trunk lid, then paint the front bay and engine nay in black as per NSX-R

Did u said PINK????????? man, I don't know..I honestly don't want to drive on the freeway or cruising down the street with my NSX turning PINK RED when the sun hit...that's gay!! people would says,"bbbzzzz gay nsx or what a fag pink nsx". That is NOT good.

I want color that says, "don't mess with my NSX "(in an aggressive way.) or "I'll smoke U out anytime, anywhere, anyplay, anyday with my TURBO."

Now that's FUNS......n COOL:cool:

Monza Red Pearl is a little too pink for me. But Candy Apple Red is hot, I have always loved that color. Not sure it works on an NSX though.

If I were to paint my car, it would most probably be Imola Orange.
