Pohanka Acura Meet - July 1, 2001By Roy L. Ebert"A query was posted to determine interest for a chapter of the NSX club in the Washington DC area. We met at Pohanka Acura in Chantilly VA on the first of July. There were 20 NSXs and a couple of little brother S2000s. Most cars came from the Virginia and Maryland area, but at least one came from as far away as New York. I have to admit that it makes me smile just to walk around all of the cars. Each car is distinctive; both because of the beautiful lines of the car itself, but also because of the way the owners either keep the car stock or make their car unique. There is no right answer of course, but it is fun to see the variety of cars. I had wanted to hear the sound of the Comptech exhaust compared to the RM racing. It is so nice to have owners start their cars and listen to the difference in volume and throaty tones. I now have a Comptech installed on my NSX as a result. There were a number of owners looking over the Comptech supercharger. It may not make the horsepower of the twin turbo, but it looks and sounds pretty sweet. Besides the turbos are not that easy to see down there on the headers. After gathering and socializing, there was a lunch provided by Pohanka, a raffle with prizes from Pohanka, RM Racing and a local indoor cart track. After raffling off the prizes, the group broke up into two groups “wild” and “mild” to drive out through the historic countryside toward West Virginia and then back toward Leesburg to meet at the carting track for some wheel-to-wheel racing. A special thanks goes to Pohanka for the lunch, prizes, and hospitality, RM for gifts and Allsports Grand Prix cart track for certificates. Pohanka made their service bays available and invited any that wanted, to put their cars on the lifts. Their NSX technician was available to answer questions and provide advice. It was a very pleasant get together and I look forward to our next gathering." |
